Virginia Beach (non-beach recs)

I know there's some VA Beach people on here. We have a wedding there in April and we're making a weekend out of it.  It won't be beach weather, so we're looking for cool things to do and casual local places to eat in the area.  We have Friday evening, Saturday morning/early afternoon, and all day Sunday to fill.  Staying at Hilton Oceanfront and we will have our car.

Based on some research, I'm thinking of checking out some historical sites (the lighthouse, historic homes) on Saturday, then something active like the state park or wildlife refuge on Sunday.  Anything cool to do/see/eat that I won't find in the guidebook?

Re: Virginia Beach (non-beach recs)

  • First Landing State Park has some great trails that go from the bay to oceanfront. A really yummy (casual but great) breakfast place really close to the trail head (west great neck) is Citrus!
