weightloss apps?

I have used sparkpeople a long time ago on my iphone. A friend was recently telling me about "LoseIt." I downloaded it, mostly interested in the ability to scan a barcode & it add the food to your count without having to enter it.

The calorie count is really off - 800some calories for 2lbs per week. I considered using my sparkpeople range and using the LoseIt app for the scanner feature. I'm also not seeing how you can enter in additional nutritional information for an item you manually enter other than calories (I like to look at fat, carbs, & protein on SP as well).

Any experience with this app or others that you like? I'm thinking I may just end up back with SP, but wanted to see what else as out there now!

Re: weightloss apps?

  • I like Myfitnesspal you can use it on your iPhone or online and it also has the scanner tool. PS, I would calculate your BMR and figure your daily caloric need based on that number, you can manually integrate that specific number into MFP or use the one they give you.

  • I've been doing myfitnesspal for about 2 weeks and like it better than sparkpeople.  I will say that now that I have a smart phone it is a lot easier to stick with.  It does have a barcode scanning feature, which I just found today.  It told me 1500 calories/day to lose 1 lb/week.  I started out the first few days over, which really helped me see portion control, and I have been a little under each day.
