Re: Weekly Check-in

  • I didn't do so well at working out or eating well this week.  We had parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday night, so I didn't get to work out those days and the school ordered in food.  I had friends down for the weekend so we didn't eat very well.

But I did just get back from working out for nearly 2 hours!  I worked out alone for 45 minutes, then tried Zumba for the first time, which was an hour long class.  I'm going to be honest: I didn't like Zumba.  I took dance classes for 13 years, and I felt like a fool.  I could learn these dance easily if I were able to go to the classes each week, but they expect you to know them (which I can't blame the instructor for at all) and be a weekly attendee.  However, none of the classes offered are held when I am off of work, so I've never been nor will I ever be able to be a regular attendee.  I think I would have a lot of fun if I knew the dances, though, so I can see how so many people enjoy it.

  • I lost almost 2 pounds over the past two weeks. (Not where I want to be, but I guess it's better than nothing) I strained a tendon in my foot so I've been off the treadmill for a few days. I hope to be back tomorrow. Other than that, nothing to report.

aweiba: Don't worry, I felt the same way at my Zumba class. I'm sure my second class wouldn't have been as bad, but I didn't go back.

  • I dropped another 2 pounds last week, but I think I drank my weight in beer this weekend. Oops.

I ran 21 miles last week. My long 8mi run on Saturday was almost 20 seconds/mile faster than the previous week. I am getting excited for my race but I don't want to jinx myself.

  • I managed to drop 1.2 lbs last week - and I have no idea how! I haven't done a real workout in almost 2 weeks, but I have been trying to sneak in activity where I can (like taking the stairs while I was away for work - we were on the 10th floor!)

I tried to be as diligent as possible with my eating too, so maybe that helped.

This week I want to really watch my intake and force myself to get back into the groove of working out.  The beginning of the semeter always seems to derail my efforts - I am super stressed and overly tired.  So, now that we are starting our 3rd week, I am hoping to be 'in the groove' a bit more and be able to get at least my 4 workouts in this week.

My goal is to reach my 10% this week (25 by the 25th?!) That's 4 pounds, so I am not sure if that is attainable, but I am going to try! I will be happy with any loss though! :)

  • I didn't lose anything last week. Which really if you look at my eating habits its not surprising. I've kinda been letting myself slip with eating. I worked out 4 times, also not my goal. But each workout I did do was challenging.

I signed up for two races last week, the Shamrock 5k in March and a 5 mile earth day run on April 21st. I started the training today for the 5 miler. I modified Hal Higdons 8k plan and incorporated our weight training. I've never, in my life, ran 5 miles straight. So I'm nervous but I think it will help me get past my mental block that I have.

So this weeks goal, getting back on track!

  • I only got to the Y once.  A runny nose has stopped me from going back.  I figured people didn't want to see my constantly wiping my nose while I was on the treadmill.
