Advice Seeking: Pillow or Framed?

My husband's co-worker and his wife just had a baby.  I've only met her once. I do know that they are having a John Deere themed bedroom.  I'm working on an appliqued tractor piece and I'm planning on embroidering the baby's name and date of birth.

Question is...should I make it into a pillow or frame it for their wall?  I can't decide.

Re: Advice Seeking: Pillow or Framed?

  • I would prefer the wall hanging but you really can't go wrong.

  • I'd frame it.  Pillows aren't really practical in a nursery because you can't put them in the crib and I think they get in the way on a chair or glider.
  • I would have opted for the pillow (my go-to baby gift).  I make a crib pillow; for decoration purposes only, of course.  They make a great keepsake.

Now that I see the responses, I may rethink this gift for boys.  Here's a couple of pillows that I have made:

  • Framed wall hanging! Cool nursery art for the win. :) I have a terrible time picking out wall art for the nurseries. LOL

    Those are super cute!

I was leaning towards pillows, but after reading everyone's posts, I think I may turn in into wall art. I guess it will last longer, too. Thank you ladies!

  • I am realizing I often answer posts that don't answer the question exactly. That being said I think this is really cute and you could maybe put the tractor into somehow. imageThe tutorial is here. I am sure they will love anything you create as it is always a little more special!

This is a GREAT idea!  Only I've already made and appliqued a tractor and embroidered his name.  I'm thinking this would be a great wedding gift too.  As in when they met, when they married, etc. Thanks for the idea!

  • Framed just because pillows are hard to keep clean if not put into a display case.
