I haven't seen an update in a while, unless I just missed it. How is your dad doing?

No, I haven't updated on here for a few weeks. Well he had surgery 10 days ago to do the trial stent in his trachea. It hasn't gone well b/c all it is doing is irritating him and making him cough even more. He went for a follow up a few days ago and they want to proceed with the next surgery b/c they want the stent out of him asap so it doesn't get infected.
He goes for his pre op Thursday and we hope his surgery happens next week. The sucky part is that the surgery is way more involved than we thought. it is about 4 hours long. They go in through his ribcage and have to separate some of his ribs to get to where they need to be. They then repair the trachea with cartilage. He has to stay in the hospital for at least a week and then recovery is about 4-6 weeks after he gets out.
We are hopeful (as are the doctors) that this will help him a lot. We just want to get through the surgery so we can be on the other side of the whole thing. Thanks so much for checking in and thinking of me
That has to be frustrating! I'm sure you just want your dad back and he just wants to be back to normal. My continued thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!
