Lack of sleep affecting weight loss?
I'm trying to lose the baby weight from my 7 month old son, and I'm having a terrible time of it. I'm not breastfeeding, and I have about 40 lbs to lose to be at a healthy weight. I'm doing Weight Watchers (not the absolute healthiest, I realize, but it works for me...at least it did in the past). I'm REALLY having a hard time losing, and I think sleep deprivation could be playing a role. Is that possible? How does that work? DS still has me up a lot at night.

Yes. Our hormones (including ones responsible for appetite/hunger, fat storage, etc) are directly affected by our sleep. Here's just one article on this topic:

I've heard that even one night of messed up sleep can make a person more insulin resistant the following day. And night shift workers are at greater risk for developing type 2 diabetes. There's tons of info if you google "sleep & hormones."
It seems like 12 mos is a reasonable time to wean babies from any nighttime feedings or whatever it is they're waking for so you'll be there soon. I had a crappy sleeper and it drove me nuts (still does sometimes). Maybe consider a different sleeping arrangement.
