What is on the agenda for today?
I have to work and clean a bit the house. Fun!
QOTD: Do you think you will be better off than your parents?
Re: Good Morning Nesties!
I'm about to go to yoga and after maybe do some grocery shopping this afternoon.
QOTD: I sure hope so. I'm already better off now than they are at this moment. Life has not been that great to them recently. I can only hope that life will be kinder to me
Hi! I need to plan my English class for tonight and get a couple of things done around the house.
QOTD: Probably not, but my parents are pretty well off, so that would be difficult to do. My goals are to own a house we can comfortably pay off while still having enough money to go on vacation every year and support 3-4 kids.
Tuesday was a relatively easy day, I did some laundry, surfed the net, and finished my book. Wednesday is my errand day -- newsagent to get a card for my BFF's daughter's first birthday, post office to pay bills and mail the birthday gift, lunch with my mother-in-law, and the grocery store. I'm also testing out my Valentine's Day gift for dinner -- DH got me an ice cream maker and I am treating him to grapefruit sorbet.
QOTD: I do not know about better, but my life will be different than my parents. My parents wanted a different kind of life than I want. They had three kids, I do not want children. They met and married in college, and I was out of college 15 years before I married. We want different things from our lives. I hope I have the kind of marriage my parents have, and when the time for retirement comes, I hope I will have been as judicious with my money as they have, so I can have a great, fun retirement and travel the way they do.
Morning everyone! Just another day of work and picking up around the house, plus a ridiculous amount of laundry (oops...shouldn't have put it off so long...oh well).
QOTD: My parents did very well for themselves on not a lot of money. My dad was the only one who worked, and mom stayed home with us kids (there were four of us, though pretty spread out in ages). Dad worked in a factory, so made decent money, but I think he probably topped out at $50k a year, and that was by the time I came around, way late in life. My mom can budget with them best of them, and we never wanted for anything, even during the times my Dad was laid off at work. Now that Dad has been retired since I was in high school, they are still maintaining their standard of living pretty closely to how it was when Dad worked, which is fantastic.
So...I don't know about better, but I hope that DH and I can plan and manage ourselves as well as my parents have, and be able to support ourselves when the time comes to retire. Sure, I'd like better, if only to be able to pay for our childrens' college education (something my parents were unable to do, which was fine, but I'd like to try for my kids)...otherwise, I'd be happy to have what they have.
Good morning. My bf is in town tonight! I met her here and she moved to California a few month's ago. It's unlikely I'll see her more than once a year or so now so I'm pretty excited to go out tonight. We're going out for tapas and wine :-) So I'm in a good mood today!
QODT: It's hard to know. My mom doesn't seem to have any sort of financial plan at all so hopefully we'll end up better than she is financially. My dad is super responsible, owns a house, etc. and is fine financially. Neither of them are particularly well-off, but we never had to worry about food or clothing or any necessities, we just didn't grow up travelling or buying name brand stuff. DH grew up in a priviledged household so he has different expectations for us. We do well now so hopefully we'll end up in a better place later on too.

It's pancake day! Milo's currently at school making up another batch, and then we have a play date this afternoon.
QOTD : Financially? Not unless we win the lotto. But, a better quality of life? I think so.
Today I woke up with a horrible sore throat. Blah, I hate being sick. So I decided to make up for it by staying nice and comfy in bed and asked DH to bring me my laptop. So I'm working from my bed today (another great advantage to working from home!).
QOTD: If things continue the way they are going right now, yes. I come from a very humble family, although my parents have gone a very long way from where they were when I was a kid.
