Potty training...

G is 100% potty trained now (she completely did it herself, I'm still in shock). When we are home or for quick errands she wears undies. However when we do playdates, music class, etc she is still in pull ups. We are going on week 2 of no 'accidents' when we are out and about for those things. My question is, at what point do  I ditch the pull ups all together? Should I do it now or give it a few weeks.

Obviously, I'll bring a spare pair of pants/undies.

Re: Potty training...

  • I think it's probably okay to go without. I just leave a set of undies/pants and a travel pack of wipes in the car. Ana hasn't ever had to use them (knock on wood) but it's good to have backup just in case. Also, if we're going to the park I do take our little potty along so we don't get stranded with a long walk/ride to find a potty.

  • We started doing short outings, going right before we left, and going no longer than an hour.  Then longer without.  I just packed a spare change of clothes until a few weeks ago.  I was lucky that William doesn't mind sitting on any size toilet-he actually hates the little toilets in Kohl's and such!

  • First-- Yay, G! That is so awesome, and I am so jealous. Wes shows little to no interest in potty training.

After that much success, I'd just pack extras and hope for the best. Good luck :)

  • I think she sounds ready to go without. We just told DS he had to try to go potty before we could go "bye bye" anywhere. He could always go a little. I'd make sure to check often while we were out if he had to go. I keep spare underwear and pants in the car as well, just in case.

  • Yay for G -- and mama!  I have no advice, because we're not there yet...but just wanted to say hooray :)
