Taking a poll to gauge general opinion on camping. My husband says I am the only person on earth who doesn't enjoy it..but I'm pretty sure that can't be true...

Re: Camping--yeah or nay?
Some of my favorite memories involve camping trips, I really like to do them on occasion but no more than 3 nights in a row. We are actually supposed to go this Saturday night and camp out with some friends and haven't camped in a couple of years.
The weather and such has to be perfect, though, I don't like putting up with mosquito season or when it's super super hot outside.
As Coloradans, we are pretty avid campers. HOWEVER, that said, I have a two day backcountry limit. If we are hiking in and packing everything/no access to showers/bathrooms, I won't do more than two nights.
If we are car camping, I have a three day limit (because we can pack more booze and there are public facilities).
I can go approximately three days MAX without a shower before I get extremely crabby.
Winter camping- I have a one night limit.
I'm a princess camper.
We go when the weather is nice. If it's not, we take the battery operated fan and the portable DVD player
I LOVE camping.
H and I were actually discussing vacation plans a couple of weeks ago. Ideally we would like to take a road trip with the dogs with a basic itinerary and stop at camp grounds. I've never camped in extreme cold temperatures but I have done some cold nights. As long as MH has a grill and I have booze we are good to go!
I enjoy it, we go camping every year, but we stay in a cabin at a KOA. They're nice, but not fancy. They have a mini fridge, a double bed, a set of bunkbeds, electricity, heat or AC, a ceiling fan and a little table, chair and a bench. We do cook everything out on the campfire, that is part of the fun.
We've tent camped several times before, but it's just too much work to be enjoyable for us. We've also rented a camper once, which wasn't bad.
You've restored my faith in the board.
I was getting a little sad about the non-campers!!
Me, too!
I mean, we haven't gone since we were up in Oregon a couple of summers ago but it was so beautiful and so much fun up there! Main reason we don't go as often around here is becauase I feel like we've been to the better spots already, and it's hard to get a group together for it, but I rarely turn down a fun camping trip when it's the perfect time.
It's so great expecially for dog owners, that's part of the fun is having our dogs be able to swim in the lake or run around and chase the ball. Plus they are good lookouts for scavenger animals that try to come near the camp site!
For us, too. Our core group is a little too dramatic right now (that's what they get for dating/cheating on each other) so we've been having trouble finding people to go with. I think for our road trip it's just going to be us two and the dogs. H is low maintenance which means less biitching so that's a plus!

I LOVE camping! In 7th/8th grade in Alaska you're required to do both a 'camping' and a 'survival' trip. The latter, you get to bring a clear tarp/rope to make a tent, a small coffee can of food/neccessities, sleeping bag, rain gear, and you eat off the beach. I would kick ass on Survivor.
That being said, the first trip I took with B was a horrible mess. As we were packing one of the dogs (they're both 9 pounds) ate a *stick* of butter. We thought it was my dog so kenneled her for the drive up, got out of the car for about 5 minutes to check in and... his dog threw up hot buttery vomit all over everything. If that weren't bad enough, we got to our site, started setting up, and she got bit by fire ants, her little face swelled up and she had to take Benadryl. Time went on, we lost another pillow to butter. I was crying, B was yelling, Haven was sick, my dog was pissed off that she'd been kenneled... I'm surprised he ever agreed to another.
That is awesome!
I am the master of "popping a squat." But even so,most campsites have running water.
One of my favorite things to do in the world is sit around a campfire drinking as much or as little (yeah right) as I want and not having to walk more than 10 feet and crawl into a toasty sleeping bag.
Despite having read this post a few times already, I glanced at it and saw "Cramping -- yeah or nay?"
..Causing me to immediately clicking wondering whoTF would select yeah
Never have, never will.
I like camping, but I think the way we did it growing up kind of ruined it for me. That was our family vacation every single year. It was the exact same week of July, at the exact same campground, in the exact same campsite, with the exact same people, doing the exact same thing.
I haven't been in a few years, but I think my capacity for it now would only be a few days, and there would have to be some other activity available other than fishing or sitting around with our thumbs up our ass all day.
