Lawrence Hospital and White Plains Hospital

We are not yet pregnant, and I do not have a OB/GYN.  I have a gyn that I go to for my check ups, but I am not thrilled with them.

Since the DH and I are discussing having a baby, we are starting to research doctors and hospitals.

Can anyone provide input on Lawrence Hospital and/or WP?

TIA

Re: Lawrence Hospital and White Plains Hospital

  • If you're curious about c-section rates, this website gives them:  http://www.citizen.org/hrg1906tables   (scroll down to see Westchester hospitals).  Of course, I chose a hospital with a very low c-section rate (Good Sam in Rockland) and ended up with a c-section anyway...

When I lived in Westchester I went to Diane Ainsworth, who is affiliated with White Plains Hospital.  I was very happy with her, although I saw her as a gyn not an ob.  My husband was hospitalized at Lawrence Hospital for an autoimmune disorder and we were happy with the care he received there.

  • I delivered at Lawrence in 11/10.  I had an emergency c.  The hospital is wonderful.  All of the rooms are private and were just recently done.  I see Dr. Hirsch who just relocated to the new West Med building at Ridge Hill in Yonkers.  There are a couple of other docs in his practice and I like them too.
  • Thank you ladies!

  • I delivered my DD at Lawrence. It over 6 years ago (so it was before the renovations) and it was a wonderful experience. I know their c-section rate is high, but mine was unavoidable.
  • I am giving birth in White Plains. I went on a tour of the maternity ward about a month ago and we really liked what we saw. There are only about 4 shared rooms so I'm hoping that won't happen to me.

  • We have lots of family history at Lawrence.  I like it there a lot (plus Starbucks is walking distance).  My cousin was born there 16 years ago.
