Meg

Tell me a story about mardi gras. I have plans.

So, we made a baby list last night, as in things we definitely want to do before having kids and things we want to try to do. We both said Mardi Gras and now I'm on a big Mardi Gras kick. I started reading up on traveling this morning and it appears we would need to book rooms by the Summer if we wanted to guarantee a hotel room for next year

Do we want to be in the French Quarter? How long do we stay? Do we want to be there for Fat Tuesday or the weekend before? There's so much information. I'm overwhelmed.

I hope you're having fun today, skank.

Happiest place on Earth!

I read this part as "we made a baby last night"...  then I was trying to figure out how that related to Mardi Gras...

Boy, I must be tired this morning!

The baby wants to go to Mardi Gras. That's what started this whole kick.

I'm just trying to be a good mother.

I totally read it the same way.

And I also typed titally instead of totally and stared at it for a good minute trying to figure out what was wrong.

    Ha.

  • Yes, you need to book like now for next year.

You either want a condo on the parade route like on St Charles or want a room in quarter.

I have never done NOLA Fat Tuesday parades but always wanted to do Zulu. That's very early Fat Tuesday morning. Usually I just do Bourbon street. I shll post pics of me last yr when I get out of bed.

I would recommend Sat-Wed. "We" could even do the Endymion ball Saturday night. :)

  • Here is Rob and I on bourbon. Despite the face.... we are not drunk. YET. We had just walked onto the street.

Here is a normal pic of us. :)

Do I have to pay to go to parades? Some of the hotels are asking me which parades I want to go to? Why do they care? I'm excited to see your pictures.

I feel like we might want to stay somewhere within a walkable distance but not necessarily dead in the center of the action. I'm sure that's what everyone wants lol.

Balls sound fun. I like it. Do I get to wear flashy clothes?

Sounds to me like you're getting started on the right foot!  That baby will thank you for years to come! :-)

You look so freakin' cute!! Were you cold? I can't tell if it was cold or not.

That guy kind of looks like Randy Jackson if you scroll really fast to the right lol.

  • No. You do not have to pay for parades. You do if you want to be on a balcony- sometimes. Sometimes you can sneak on or find tickets elsewhere. I can handle that for us. :)

The ball was fun but pricey. I think the tickets were like $300 a couple just to get in plus Rob's tux and my dress. But you bring your own food and alcohol and the parade rolls in when it is done on the parade route and the entertainment plays. Last year it was Train and they were WONDERFUL. I luff them though. Here is a pic of us going to that....

Last year was not cold but it was late- in March, I believe. Every year is different. Sometimes it can be freezing, sometimes it can be hot as he!!. Mardi Gras is like a box of chocolates... you nevah know what you gonna get.
