Non-clicky poll -- dirty dishes

In your mind, dirty dishes belong ___________.

You can answer twice if you like, depending on whether or not a dishwasher is present.

Re: Non-clicky poll -- dirty dishes

  • In the sink getting washed, then on the drying rack. I do not have a dishwasher. Crying
  • In the dishwasher.  If it's a sticky pot or something.  It soaks on the counter w/ hot soapy water.  I cannot stand piles of dirty dishes though.  So they never stay out long.
  • In the dishwasher!  I go nuts if dirty dishes remain in the sink for more than 24 hours.

  • Unless the dishwasher is running, always in the dishwasher immediately.

If it's got baked on stuff and needs to soak, it may sit from dinner to right before bed, but I can't sleep with a dirty kitchen!

  • Y'all are too clean for me. haha. DH and I generally do dishes once per day or so, so neither of us really care if say breakfast and lunch dishes are  dirty before we get to them. The discrepancy comes in WHERE they should be. DH thinks they should go on the counter/island. I think they belong in the SINK because that's what the SINK is for. DH thinks the sink is for using water, so it should be empty to allow jugs/coffee pots. But the idea of intentionally stacking dirty dishes on the counter makes me beyond twitchy.

In case you were wondering, our attempt at compromise will be to just wash the damn dishes. haha

  • Whether it's dishwasher or sink, immediately or once a day, the counter is NEVER the answer. Wtf?H leaves his breakfast dishes in the sink every.single.morning and it drives me nuts. Put them in the dishwasher! Also I would die without a dishwasher.
  • H puts them on the counter too. I can't stand that! The sink is 1 inch over. I'm with you Jen- we do dishes every evening, so the dishes stay in the sink until then. I wash the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher though.

  • In the dishwasher immediately. If the diswasher is full, it must be unloaded as soon as someone is home for more than 10 min to do so and then the dirty dishes must immediately be loaded.

  • Either in the dish drainer, rinsed off and ready to go in the dishwasher once it is unloaded.. or rinsed off and in the dishwasher.

  • Dirty "dishes" and other things that can go into the DW will go directly in.  Anything that needs hand washing will go into the L side of the double sink, where it waits until after dinner -thats when I wash all the dishes.
