How do your capris fit?

I've never been a big fan of capris. They just never fit right so I always ended up wearing long yoga type pants or running shorts but I'm tall so no pants never really fit anyway. I finally broke down and just bought a pair at Old Navy today. I completely guessed at my size and didn't even try them on. I wore them to crossfit tonight and they ROCK! I LOVE them. They never slipped down and not once did I have to stop my workout to adjust them. They are higher in the waist though and almost come up to my belly button. Is this how they are suppose to fit? Nobody elses seem to look that high when I see them in them. Have I just been buying/trying them on wrong all this time?

Re: How do your capris fit?

  • I'm such a fitted capri fan for workouts. I personally like them to have a higher rise because I STILL have a soft spot low on my tummy after having my DD. The only low-rise fitted capris I've found that I liked were actually Filas that were on clearance at Kohls. Lulu's are good lower rise option, and I think Gap Body has some lower rise options, too.

  • My favorite capris that I own are a pair I got for $2 at Kmart a couple years ago. The waist is higher than I like, but I just roll it down and I'm good to go. If I'd known I'd like them so much I would have bought more than one pair!

  • Most of my capris have a pretty high waist but the only thing I'll wear above my hips is the occasional skirt so I always roll them down.

My issue with capris is the length! I'm currently on the look out for super cheap capris that fall mid-calf...

  • For more yoga style capris, I like them to fit lower. I have a really long torso, and my natural waist is high, so I usually wear all pants well below my belly button. I have a few C9 capris from Target. But I also got some of the Old Navy compression capris and tights and while they fit pretty high up, I totally love them. They don't fall down at all and they are very flattering. I make sure all my shirts are long though, because I do feel a bit self conscious about how high they fit.

  • My ON compression capris are very high waisted.  I have another adidas pair (not running/compression) that are lower waisted.  I think it just depends.  I like them both for different reasons but I never have to adjust my ON ones.
  • I exclusively wear capris b/c pants are too much fabric and shorts bunch up on me.  My Old Navy ones have a high rise, as well (I'm 5'8").  I am on the bigger side weight wise, so I find that it helps keep everything in place.  I have a pair of adidas capris and they are constantly riding down and distracting from my workout.  My Danskin Now ones are also pretty high-rise and I like them.

  • I have short legs so I need either a petite pant or capris. I love them! I don't worry about the waist as long as it isn't high enough to look and feel like maternity wear. After 2 kids, I kind of have a complex about stuff that looks and fits like clothes for pregnant women..

  • I have 3 pairs of ON capris and each is a different rise.  I prefer the higher rise ones, if they are lower I feel like they are falling off of me.
  • Just bought some ON ones over the weekend, but they are a disaster for me!  Too high in the waist and because I have short legs they look like my pants shrunk :-(

    Going back to the store...

  • I like the ones that come up to the belly button as well so they don't slip or fall down.
  • I adore my Old Navy capris. They are all I will wear now, I own multiple pairs of them. I really like that they have a higher rise because I have a bit of a belly and they hold me in. I also tend to have "crack" issues in low-cut pants, so I tend to go for higher cuts anyway.
