crafty nesties: shadow box help
I picked up some antique wood block type set letters and I want to arrange them in a shadow box frame.
The letters are kind of like this, but all dark and about 2" tall.
What's the best way to affix them to the shadow box?
What kind of back ground should I put in the shadow box?
Can a non-crafty person do this or should I take it to the framer? I'm all thumbs, really.

If you buy a shadow box you should be able to do it yourself. One option would be to cut matboard to fit (no need for special tools since the edges will be covered by the frame), and to use a neutral-ph glue to adhere the wood blocks to the board.
ETA: You don't actually have to worry about acid free glue, since the wood isn't anyway. Just find any glue that says it's for gluing wood and paper (there are several), or ask for help. You also probably want to make sure it dries clear, just in case.
