The day has come!

Well sort of.

Hubby got his acceptance letter and now we are on to stage 2 of him getting his visa for the States (we filed at the consulate here in London)! Curious for those of you who have done it, how long did the second bit go for you? Apparently within the next 3 weeks we will hear from them about what to do next. Anything we can do to speed things up (get the medical exam done, get forms done, etc.)?

The reason I ask, and to me the more exciting part... I booked my ticket. As of this Friday I have two months left in England! WOW! We didn't book his because we weren't sure if 2 months was enough.

TIA!

Re: The day has come!

  • It took us about 3 months I believe. I wouldn't book his ticket until you have the interview date in hand, why risk it?

  • Um don't wait three weeks until they get back to you on what to do next...

Go on visajourney and the USCIS website to see what you need for the second packet and get going on it like now. You could submit it as soon as your done I think. Things I can think of for what we needed were the paperwork for that section, then we had to get the financial support documents filled out, and then he needed to get police certificates.Bunch of other random stuff too.

You don't do the medical until he has an interview date.

I'm not sure as we didn't do DCF. I think you would send it to the embassy. I would look on the US Embassy London website to see. If you got a letter that the first part was processed and accepted you should be able to move on. It's worth a call to the embassy to find out.
