Putnam County Homes?
A co-worker is thinking of leaving long island for the Hudson Valley. She says she would like to be in Putnam. Can you name towns close to trains? She is ok driving 20 min to the train. Bonus points for good-great school districts.

Putnam County:
Brewster/Southeast has awesome schools and 2 train stations. I LOVE it there.
Carmel: good schools but bigger than Brewster. We prefer Brewster honestly and will be moving back before kids hit school age.

I too went to Pawling Schools and they are not as good as when I went there. HOwever, that being said, we still live here (there are other factors as to why). We rent a house but would love to buy a home.
If they like developments, there are some nice developments here that are close to the train station. Unlike some other towns, Pawling does have a nice downtown area with little shops and restaurants.
Other than that, I echo what Melis said!
This! I went to school in Brewster... I liked it. It is a smaller district though, and they are closing one of the 2 elementary schools at the end of this year.
I work in Carmel, it is pretty big. We have 3 elementary schools, with at least 4 classes per grade per school. Some grades have 5 classes.
I think both are a great choice and close to train stations.

I'll echo the rec's for Carmel, Brewster and Mahopac. We live at the very southern tip of Carmel on the border of Somers, but are in Mahopac school district. Croton Falls train station is literally two miles from our house.
Something to note - I'm pretty sure the trains only go direct up to Southeast. Anything past that, you have to transfer.
