Need hotel help for NYC

Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but DH and I are going to NYC for the weekend in April and we're looking for a hotel to book.

Details: We'll probably only be staying Saturday night and we'd like to keep it under $300 if possible. We're looking for clean and safe, and if possible something romantic. Sat. night we'll be going to a show on broadway at the Nederlander Theater on 41st St.

We'll be arriving Sat morning by train and just plan to relax and enjoy the weekend. A friend suggested the Library Hotel, but it looks like they want a 2 night stay and are closer to $400.

Any suggestions would be great!

Re: Need hotel help for NYC

  • We're locals but stayed at the Renaissance New York 57 for a night this past summer. Its over on the east side so not in the direct vicinity of where you want to go but I don't find that a big deal in NYC. I thought it was pretty nice considering the area and the price.
  • I stayed at hotel mela in times square and it was very nice. Might be a bit over budget but it's a great location.

I just stayed at the Milennium right near hotel mela this past weekend and it was nice too. It was a great location for wanting to be near times square and the price wasn't bad.

  • another local here.

i'd recommend hotel giraffe.  it's on park avenue in a very ritzy area of town, and it is SUPER romantic.

  • Just wanted to reply back in case anyone was still checking - we booked the Hotel Roosevelt for $210. It got decent reviews on the booking websites and seems to be a nice location for what we need. Fingers crossed that it is ok! :)

Thank you all for your replies!
