Starving after eating

What do you ususally eat that keeps you filled until your snack or lunch? I jogged this morning and made breakfast. I ate it at work around 7:30 and now at almost 9:00 I am starving. I made an egg and cheese sandwich and drank some milk.

Re: Starving after eating

  • Maybe have some greek yogurt or cottage cheese with some fruit for a snack, that would give you protein and fiber which help to keep you fuller longer.

Or maybe a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread, something like that.

  • that wouldn't be enough food to hold me over until lunch time.  I'd probably add some almonds to breakfast.

I usually alternate between a crustless quiche (made with meat, veg, cottage cheese, eggs), V8, and almonds or the bob's red mill 8 grain hot cereal (made with milk), greek yogurt, and almonds.  but sometimes I'm just extra hungry and starving by 9AM regardless of what I eat for breakfast.

  • I eat breakfast first thing (egg and cheese sandwich), then run 90+ minutes later. after running, I have milk and fruit and string cheese. then I'm good until lunch.

I usually try to eat smaller amounts every 2-3 hours. if I don't, I get too hungry and end up eating anything and everything.

  • I feel like no matter what I eat I am like an infant and need to eat every hour or two!   I will eat a protein packed meal and still maybe 2 hours later I will want a snack.  So I think I am a bad person to ask!
  • My first thought is maybe you are hungry from yesterday.  Are you counting calories and making sure to eat enough?

Next, I try to drink a mug of somehting hot after breakfast (coffee usually, but sometimes hot tea), which fills me up and keeps me satisfied until my 10am snack.

Also, are you drinking enough water?  Or maybe add another egg to your sandwich?

    Just some random thoughts...

  • The egg and cheese is good but omit the bread next time and try that. The glycemic index for bread is really high and your blood sugar might rise slower with just the egg and cheese and you will feel fuller longer.

I've been reading the book WHEAT BELLY so to me anything with wheat will do you in -- wheat is actually higher in glycemic that sugar!

     Other high protein ideas are:

    1) egg scramble with some avocado and tomatoes

    2) greek yogurt (plain) with 1/2 tsp almond extract, a few walnuts and a packet of Stevia (natural plant based sugar with 0 on the glycemic index)

    3) egg scramble with some salami

thanks for the advice ladies. I am going to have add some extra stuff to the egg like tomato or another one.

I am going to have to get some tea. I do love hot tea. I am pretty sure that I am not drinking enough water. Not even close. I really need to work on that. It is my downfall.
