Re: HW 34 days off?!
plus working from home...... ditto lachute.
the one part i don't envy is your commute
i did it for a year and it made me want to cry a lot.
My little nuggets
Erbur, we have the same thing here, too. I got an extra 3 days this year for my 5 year Anni.
I think because of the work we do here and how much overtime we have to put in at night... through the night... and weekends, they try to 'reward' us decently. Having the ability to WFH has its good and bad points, mainly because they expect me to be available 24-7. At the end of the day, though, my manager doesn't care if I work at work, at home, or from a bar. As long as my stuff is done and the deadline is met, he doesn't care. It's one of the biggest reasons why I'm so, so torn with deciding to leave. I'm so worn down from working until ~3:30AM a lot of nights but at the same time, it's super flexible.

Ditto here. My job flexibility, disgusting amount of vacation/sick time and six month maternity leave are the ONLY reasons I am still at my crappy, horribly paid job. I get so irrational about how little I get paid and the inability to ever move in my job. Oh and them giving me a second job title which equates to now having two full-time positions with 'gasp' a 2K raise with no likelihood of getting another raise...ugh...I hate this place.
Sorry wainy totally stole your thunder with my whiny, biitchy, self-loathing vent.
haha, not stealing my thunder at all. It really is such a hard decision when you have great benefits but the actual job portion (you know, the thing that you get paid to do) sucks. And as Ering said above, the commute makes me homicidal, too. I really am trying to suck it up. It's hard though.
only 3 more years and I get my extra week!
I definitely feel you on the hard decision. See...I actually like what I do, it is definitely interesting, but hate all the politics involved and quite frankly dealing with the attorney's in my office. I get treated very poorly by some people but don't really have any recourse which totally sucks. I just feel like I'm ready to move on in my career but don't really think it would be the smartest decision. I am thinking about doing some extra 'side-work' and have been approached by several people and really am contemplating this, maybe this will make me feel more in control.
"Side work", eh? Oww OWWWW!!!
