Places that seem exotic to you right now

When I lived in Florida just out of college, places like Scotland and Ireland seemed very exotic to me. The idea of green rolling hills and cold temperatures was very foreign to my flat-land, humid reality.

Now, California seems so exotic. Even though it is part of the same country I just left behind, it is so vastly different from New York City that I feel like it's practically a different world. A little girl from DD's school here in Paris is spending the winter break in Los Angeles and she may as well have told me she was going to the moon.

  • The amazon.... I guess I don't really think of places as exotic any more, I just think of them as a place I have to get to soon!  Every place is different and I love that!

  • Rural America.  Even though I grew up there, I just cannot imagine living there again.  Visiting, yes.  Full on living, no.
  • Honestly, my own HOUSE seems exotic right now.  Between a deployment, immediate move, then 8 months of training, I haven't actually LIVED in a house with my own STUFF since July of 2010.   I've been confined to one room (tent in Afghanistan, hotel room for the first month I was here, dorm room now that I'm in training) since then.   Only a few more weeks and I get to move back into my house with my stuff and the most comfortable bed in the world.

  • Asia. I've never been but have always wanted to go. I've had some friends living in Japan for years and hope to get over there before they leave. Also, my best friend moved to India for work and got DS a toy Tuk Tuk. Explaining to DS that a Tuk Tuk is how his uncle gets to work blew my mind.
