Where do you go rock climbing?  An indoor place?  I've only done it once (on our cruise last year) and LOVED it!  I need to find somewhere near me and go.  My arms were crazy-sore afterwards!

  • Good questions, I am also curious about this!

Lexx, also when you lived in Houston did you have membership to that TX Indoor Rock climbing gym at I-10/Beltway, or a different one?    And where the heck did you do REAL rock climbing when you lived down here?

That's such a cool passion, it sounds like you really love it!

  • Right now I'm going indoors. There's an awesome gym near me that has smaller walls for bouldering (free climbing) and then huge walls for top rope and leading. I have all my own gear, so I try to stop in a couple times a week.

I live in Utah, so we have a TON of great places to go outdoors. Last summer we went down to some canyons near SLC, and that's how I got started. I live really close to great climbing so as soon as it warms up, I'll be hitting the real rocks!

It does make you crazy sore... I swear, I've toned up muscles I didn't even know I had. But I suck at convential "working out" so it's nice that it kicks my azz, but is also so much fun!

I got into climbing right after moving here, so I didn't ever go to that gym, but had a friend who went there and really liked it! I've heard good things. If you were in Houston, the rock gym is pretty much it, but places like Austin have AMAZING climbing! I'm actually thinking about making a trip back to TX once I've mastered the more advanced climbs to do some in that area.

I do love it! One of my big goals is to climb the Grand Tetons, but that's still a couple years out, in regards to training. And there's plenty of canyons to keep me occupied til I get that far. :)
