Wives of snorers - foam earplugs

If you haven't tried them, you really must.  They have saved my marriage.

I don't even notice when they're in anymore, it didn't take long to get used to wearing them.

Nigel snores like a bear with a headcold who drank a keg by himself.  Plus he does the snarfing and choking thing so it's not even rythmic.  (yes, he's talked to a doc about it, lol)

But I'm serious, they offer a restful night's sleep.

  • Eh, just figured I'd ship the hubby off to Ohio and finally get my full-nights sleep back....

But seriously, you can't hear him snoring but you can hear your alarm go off?

Yes, it's weird.  I think it might be a pitch thing.  Sometimes he breaks through, but really 98% of the time I can't hear a damn thing.  I would definitely hear a fire alarm, and can hear my morning alarm, no problem.

I'm really not kidding at all when I say they saved our marriage, lol.

  • I sleep with earplugs (I'm a really light sleeper) but I have the baby monitor right next to my head just in case. I figure that DH will wake up if I can't hear the monitor for some reason.

  • Ear plug sleeper here too.  Except sometimes they bother my ears, but I've found the CVS brand that are bright yellow and pink are the softest.  :-)
  • They don't stay in my ears! I think I have funny shaped ears or something. Sigh.
  • I'm a heavy sleeper...except for DH's snoring.  I've always avoided this because I'm afraid I won't hear my alarm.  Maybe I'll give them a go this weekend.
  • Hmmm...maybe I'll stick them in his nose instead...Big Smile

It's a frequency thing. I am almost totally deaf in my left ear (which means I sleep REALLY soundly), but I have minimal hearing of high frequency sounds.  Noises that come from CO alarms, smoke detectors, or alarm clocks have a higher frequency, which allows for those with hearing loss--or earplugs--to be able to hear them.

  • I feel your pain, but my husband has sleep apnea. He still snores with a mask, but is going back at the end up March for another sleep study to see if he needs the surgery.
