Vaguebooking.... An epidemic...

The other day an FB friend who is pregnant posts "Please send prayers for my little boy, he could use them". Naturally, anyone with a heart, starts posting things like "prayers sent, I hope everything is OK" and "What happened?" So I understand she didn't want to get into it, but she only replied back "Thank you. I don't want to get into it but he needs them."

I decide to send her a private message and just simply say, "I hope everything is OK. Dan and I are thinking of you and the baby. Stay strong."

She replies back "Thanks, he was measuring a little big at are last ultrasound a couple of weeks ago we had another one and he is perfect but thank you for thinking of us"

Honestly, I thought something more was wrong.  I guess I'm insensitive and by no means do I feel like she shouldn't worry (and heck maybe there was something else they thought was wrong and she didn't tell me...) but c'mon don't leave ppl in the dust with worry and not explain what's happening to your unborn child.  It's a little cruel to lead ppl to think there is something wrong.

I also think I wasn't the only one who felt that way because she has since deleted that status asking for prayers and posted this "Don?t let negative and toxic people rent space in your head. Raise the rent and evict them."

SMH... I really don't know why I stay "friends" with her.... she can be entertaining but I kind of feel this crossed the line.

  • ><

I hear you. The other day my x-bff posted:

"Can't wait for the hubby to get home! Get to talk to him about something new that I would like his imput in. :D"

for one thing - INPUT. And then I said quit vaguebooking! And she said

"my bad, don't want to say to much just in case it doesn't happen. but i'm excited and had to get it out.."

So call your mom or your sister or your friend and tell them. Don't post it on FB like a douche!

  • wow, that's messed up Nat.

  • It's seriously becoming a huge pet peeve.

Here's one I had to endure the other day:

"Worst night ever at work. Can't talk about it tho. Augh!!!!"

So I ask her - why even mention it on FB if you can't talk about it??!  She says it was more about being awake and thinking about it and needing that support.

So then why post about it at all if no one can know what happened to help you???!!?!?!?!!?!?!?!

  • I also hate this.  esp. "may have big news later!"  And nat, it does seem cruel to do a "pray for my baby" but not know why.

My aunt had surgery 2 weeks ago to remove uterine cancer.  My mom put on FB

"Please pray for my sister D but I can't say why."

    really, mom?

I really don't get why people do that.  Just don't mention it if you don't want to "get into it".

And I would put your mom's post on the same level as my "friend".  She could have simply said what you wrote about what was going on with your aunt and that's it.
