Food trend(s) that you are over?
Bacon and macrons are both way overdone at this point IMO.
What are you over?
Re: Food trend(s) that you are over?
I am definitely over macarons and cupcakes. I see them everywhere and most of the time they aren't really any good.
I wasn't ever really into bacon, so I missed that trend completely.
I am also over famous chef trying to do $10 dinners -- they seem to use expensive, hard to find ingredients and never count the cost of the staples.
Same here.
I have to agree. People keep bugging me to make them (and I have twice) but I am just not that into them. First of all, I really like cake- do you eat like 12 of them at a time?
I even got a cake pop maker for my birthday last summer which is so awesome compared to making balls with smashed up cake. I love just pouring the batter in it! But I use it to make doughnut holes.

"Being over" implies that I was into them at some point, but that wasn't the case for me and cake pops.
Bacon? I'll always be into bacon.

True.
I was thinking "over hearing about/seeing..."

This.
Bacon is just a fact of life for me
But I don't add it into random dishes.
Cake pops - I actually haven't made any b/c I like to eat a large cake slice. I picked up a cake pop maker before Christmas though b/c it was next to nothing. I'm looking forward to making some for my daughter and jumping on the bandwagon way late since I'll be waiting a while longer before she is allowed to roam around with a stick in her hands!
I'm sick of people who don't even like the taste of endive using it as a vessel just because it's "fancy." If you don't eat it don't use it!
I'm tired of red velvet everything.
That's not to say I won't eat it
stuffed sweets ala chocolate chip cookies stuffed with other cookies, candy bars, etc
I have to say I'm surprised to hear people like their cakeball makers...now I'm tempted to keep my eyes open for one on sale!
This.
And Nutella.
Oh my goodness- I do like it! I put the batter in a ziploc bag, pipe it in seconds and have little cake balls in 5 minutes! And since I am not using the sticks and decorating them, they are a very easy and fast bite size dessert. I make yellow cake balls and toss them in a brown lunch bag with powdered sugar. I am the best mom ever when do this.
If you do want to make the real deal cake pops the cake pop maker makes it so easy. But.... we're so over them! LOL

This is me.
We have a friend that is obsessed with cake pops. For some reason cake pops remind me of stale cake, especially the ones he is obsessed with at Starbucks. DH and I think he's nuts.
cupcake shops/shows etc
I'm just kind of over these terms. it seems like people are trying to hard for fancy when it's just sauce
ponzu
gastrique
As soon as I saw this title "Cake pops" immediately "popped" into my head. I was just telling my fabulous sister that I have never really liked them and I don't understand their popularity.
I'm sad that French Macaroons are a food trend. They have been a favorite of mine for a long time. I've never made them, but I will have to give them a try. Now that I think about it... I was surprised to see a Macaroon vendor at our local Sunday market, and was shocked that they were $2.50 per macaroon... really???? It's one freaking, little cookie! But if they are "trendy" I now understand why people think they can try to charge that much. (I will continue to get mine at my little cheese shop across the street from my house for half that price...)
I'm kind of over foodtrucks... Just open a damn restaurant! I hate waiting in line, outside, then having to find somewhere to eat. It's one thing during the summer at the market, but during the winter... in Boston? Come on people... By the time I take a bite of my grilled cheese it's cold, or I'm cold and cranky, because I just waited for 15 minutes for a grilled cheese (ok, they are pretty yummy, but I can make a good grilled cheese in the comfort of my own home!)
I love bacon but am totally over pork belly. Seems like it is on every menu I come across. I had some pork belly lettuce wraps last summer...that was one of my biggest culinary mistakes ever. I'm still gagging at the thought.
I cannot stand truffle oil and I see that a lot still. Would have thought that was over at least 5 years ago.
And the cupcake shops rarely deliver. There is one in this city that is actually really, really freaking good. But the rest are either eh or downright awful.
The foodtruck thing - yeah, I can see that. It's annoying to have to figure out where the truck is and on what day. Like, it's wednesday and I want a tamale, but the tamale truck is across the city so... The odds I still want a tamale on thursday are probably slim.
(For the record - ponzu is a very specific citrus flavored sauce - most often with yuzu).

Ditto, but it's more that I'm bitterly allergic to hazelnuts.
So I came across this chef (I don't remember who - but I think he was French) who said he grew up eating Nutella on a toasted baguette drizzled with fruity olive oil and sea salt. That is the way to eat Nutella IMO.

I totally agree with this! I like bacon but can't do it in dessert!
my read shelf:
ditto on cake pops and cupcakes!
ETA: Also, I'm over/have never been a fan of any dessert that is prettier than it is tasty. I'm SO OVER the fondant/sculpted cake craze. That's not to say that I won't make them for clients, obviously, but personally, I'd rather have a tall, beautiful, freshly baked and buttercream frosted cake than a sculpted, fondant smothered cake that took days to make ANYday.
It's funny to me to see macarons mentioned because in MD, they're almost impossible to find. That, or I'm just not looking in the right place (Baltimore-Metro area). I see them all *over* in the food blogging world, but I think that's a skewed view of what's "in" and popular. If I served macarons at a part, 90% of people would have no idea what they were.
Not that I blame anyone for being over them! I know other markets are far more saturated!
I'm over cake batter-flavored stuff. Cake batter flavored Rice Krispies treats, chocolate bark, ice cream, truffles, candies, even alcoholic beverages. It makes me gag every time something new crops up on Pinterest.
You won't be impressed with what I'm working on then...
I do agree with you about the almighty and all-delicious buttercream cake.
