FAFSA and Miliatry related question

I'm doing E's FAFSA and I'm totally confused by this question.

Ugh its not letting me copy the question.

Basically its asking for allowances paid to military. However it says do not the value of basic military allowance for housing.

All we get is BAH because E is using the GI Bill to go to school. Do I include the BAH or not? I'm so confused.

Also would the GI Bill be considering federal aid or a scholarship that I need to include in the " was it reported to the IRS section"?

TIA!!

    Do not claim bah.

Thanks Lemon. Can you tell I've only ever done this for myself before E and I were married.

  • First time I did it, I was like "what the what?" And spent like ten minutes double checking because I didn't want to screw it up.

  • I was told by my fin. office to leave it blank because 9 times out of 10 its going to get selected for verifcation because of the military anyway.

I got verified and over the phone I confirmed that BAH does not get factored into the equation. Neither does BAS. Only taxable income. Put a 0 because that's what it is suppose to be.

    What LL said. Put 0.

The FASFA only cares about your taxable income. That's part of the reason why applying for it the year H was deployed was beneficial to me.

Thanks Ladies. I put 0, I'm waiting for E's PIN to be validated and then I'll double check everything and submit it. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!
