Help, I really need some good vibes. DH and I submitted our paperwork in early January for our ILR and have yet to hear back.
The problem is we didn't realise that whilst our paperwork is in, we are not permitted to leave the country! We have tickets to fly to the US next Wednesday as my grandma is now bleeding internally and is in hospices. The women we spoke with said that we can send a fax explaining our situation and normally it gets resolved, but this is not giving me a great deal of confidence. We are not even worried about our passports as we can get emergency passports, we are concerned that it will make our current application null and void and we would have to start all over again, including paying the fee!
Please, please, please send us some visa vibes. And if you have any advice, I am all ears. If I miss seeing grandma for the last time because of our visa situation, I am going to be inconsolable.

I really hope getting an emergency passport wouldn't affect your application.
Good luck getting the real thing (and ILR) back ASAP!
Sorry to hear about your grandma. Good luck and hopefully it will work. DH's cousin and wife had an emergency back home while their forms were in for ILR and they managed to get their stuff back and processed, although the cousin did have to go and fetch it in person.
Vibes heading your way!
Just something to think about- screw the fees. I would rather pay the visa fee over again than miss seeing my grandma one last time. Money can't buy that back. I know this isn't always a practical option because visas are so expensive, but keep it in mind.
