Shoes for work

Once again, inspired by my severely lacking work wardrobe.

As long as there's no policy against it, do you wear open toed pumps to work?

How much of a heel is too much?

I need to grab a pair of brown or nude pumps. I have a pair of nude peep toe sling backs but they're pretty high.

Re: Shoes for work

  • My work is not as conservaive as others but there are really no shoes I wouldn't wear. If I wear a more funky shoe I'll pair it with a more conservative outfit. For example, yesterday I had on leopard peep toe pumps with black trousers and a black top. Most of my pumps are peep toe, I would never think twice about wearing them to work.
  • I would definitely wear open toed shoes to work. Our company had a policy that you could not wear shoes with more than a 4 inch heel. People have actually gotten talked to about that one.

    I concur.

If you're unsure though, I'd maybe opt for a peep toe or round toe pump that's not a slingback. Or at least a leather slingback over patent. And I'd definitely get nude over brown.

  • I can't wear open-toe, but that's obviously a very different (safety/chemical) issue. I can't think of a non-safety reason that would make open-toe inappropriate.

  • Ok. This makes me feel better. Since I work from home, if I do buy shoes, I'd like them to be something that I could wear in another context. I have super cute black pumps that work great for anything but I wasn't sure about my nude ones. They're not particularly comfortable so I'll probably pick up another pair of nude that aren't slingbacks. My life is so hard...having to buy new clothes, new shoes, I don't know how I'll survive.
