Re: I don't get...

  • I don't get why people can't park in general. (If you can't park it, you shouldn't drive it!)

I also don't get people that walk down the middle of the road. Especially when there is a sidewalk 20 feet to the side.

overpriced  plain jane clothing that looks basically the same as what you can find most anywhere else for cheaper.

Plus they haven't really added anything new to their shelves in a decade, same clothes year in and year out with maybe a pocket added here or whatever.

Explain. I don't get why you would need a weekend truck unless you just really like cars. And in that case I would assume that was where the hot rods and muscle cars would come in.

BTW- I'm not trying to come off as rude but I just don't get the appeal of paying tax/reg/gas/upkeep on several cars that don't get used on a regular basis.

  • I don't get why it's so freaking hard for people to use a turn signal.  Really, it takes literally less than a second to flip that thing either way.

I don't hate the Kardashians per se, I've never even seen an episode of the show, but I don't really care for anyone who is just famous for being famous.   Like Paris Hilton, or the cast of the Jersey Shore. I couldn't give two shits about them or anyone else like that.  I guess I just don't get the fascination.

We have 3 and a third cars, which we pay taxes on 3 of. One is my daily driver, my H's daily driver, then we have a Firebird that was my husband's first car and awesome when the weather is nice. And the third is a race car that my husband co-owns with two other people. I agree, it the 3rd car is kind of a money suck, but awesome to drive with the top down. :D

I understand being down every now and then, but it really irks me when every FB post is negative, or every time we talk there is always something wrong..

I've also come to find the more I hear it from the same person, the more I avoid talking with them.

To be honest, I could see a third car as the "fun" car...

Let me just explain that the reason for all the extra car hate is that H wants to keep his gas-sucking truck and get another "better mileage" car for work. WTF... This does NOT make sense to me. If it was an awesome car, yes I could see it.

We have 3 cars for 2 of us, too.   Not particularly MY choice, I would love to have a garage spot instead of just parking in the driveway.     We each have our daily drivers and the H has a classic hotrod that's his hobby car (likes to do car shows and drag races).     He's been restoring it over 10 years, it only gets about 7 mpg and can't be driven in bad weather, so it's purely for joy riding.    Yes, it's a money pit and I know it.... but it's also fun.      It gets started up at least once a week, though, even if it isn't driven out of the driveway.    It doesn't just sit there useless, trust me.

I don't understand what there is to "get" here. They are both neutrals. The only thing you need to do is make it look intentional (not that you got dressed in the dark).

I'd rather spend my money on keeping a beautiful, fun car that we drive occassionally than other entertainment-type stuff. I love cars.

Oh, you aren't being rude :)

When H moved from California, he only had his Chevelle and his 27 Ford hot rod (without a roof at the time) and neither car got great gas mileage or had AC. So he bought the Tahoe. That was his daily driver until he bought our diesel truck (which he runs on waste fuel and oil so it's free to drive). Then I moved in and added my Focus, then his dad gave us the other hot rod.

My H is a mechanic. Upkeep is free. My parents help us out with my fuel since I'm still in school and drive an hour one way (it was our arrangement since I moved back in with them when I was 19). And we pay MAYBE $100 a year in taxes for the cars. The most expensive is the Tahoe because its considered a truck. His Chevelle and the two Fords have antique car plates on them so its $35 every 5 years. Once I graduate, we're getting rid of my Focus and I'll drive the Tahoe and get vanity plates so we pay every 5 years.

This is us. We have 4 cars and a Harley. I have my everyday car. MH has an everyday, great gas mileage car, plus we have a pick-up truck. He owned the truck before the small Toyota corolla. We use that for camping, our kayaks and all other house related tasks. We also have a Hot Rod.

If you think about it though, having extra cars doesn't mean you are spending extra gas since they are not being driven all at the same time.

I know I'm digging my heels about this because in our situation it doesn't make sense. Or maybe I'm just an idiot. LOL

If we were more established in our finances, I would be more understanding.

My car is on its last leg, H's truck is a gas-guzzling nightmare. We both agreed that I would be getting a new car next. We have one picked out that is right for us financially and that we could use for road trips/camping/weekend use. I threw an idea out for selling both of our older cars so we could pretty much have the newest car payed off and then getting H a cheaper/better mileage car (with some of the $$ that we would get from selling our cars) since he has a work van anyway.

He came back with "I want to keep my truck just in case".

Does anyone what to shed light on this?

I swear I'm not trying to tell him what to do with his stuff but he ONLY uses his truck now for driving to work. We use my older car to drive OOT and on the weekends. He is also going to be able to take his work van home when his promotion clears.

i can see him wanting to keep it as a back up , as in, his car is getting worked on, or whatever.

but I also know, from experience, if 1 car is in the shop and there is a 2, you make do.

right now it's ridiculous to think douglas and i had 1 car, and  am SO grateful that we do. He's been working about 1.5 hours from where we live and I work about 45 minutes so he would have to drop me off super early (like an hour before i have to be there) and drive extra to get to work on time.

  • Stellar, to put it in perspective, our Tahoe, Truck, Hot Rods and Chevelle are all paid off. He had the 27 and the Chevelle paid off. His dad just gave us the 31 for the wedding.

The Tahoe he got a loan from his Grandma (like our house) and paid her back. The Truck was $500 because the dude didn't wanna pay to have the AC fixed.
