Coley = bad mom

Just took Emmett for his follow up with the ENT and he has another double ear infection. She said if it doesn't clear up she will have to do another surgery.

So his lack of sleep a few nights ago was a result of the ear infections. I feel like a bad mom because I made him CIO last night.

Is it too early for a cocktail?

Re: Coley = bad mom

  • You are not a bad mom, you had no idea he was sick. Is it common for the tubes to not work and a second procedure to be done? He had been doing really well with them right?

    The answer to this is always no.

  • Aw, don't be too hard on yourself. We've all been there. I know I have. How were you to know?

    Its not common to need a second procedure. She said about a 1% chance that kids need another one. :/

    I really had no ideas it was another ear infection since he wasn't showing any of the signs he previously exhibited.

    And thanks :)

    Thanks. Baileys and coffee it is.

  • oh coley, that's rough. But don't be hard on yourself. I was worried about him having another ear infection honestly but I didn't want to say it. That happened to a friend of mine with her daughter. But the second surgery worked!
  • That sucks that he has another one!  I'm sorry to hear that.

    You are NOT a bad mom!  You thought you were over the infections.  I would have done the same thing.

  • Thanks for the reassurance, guys. It just sucks. I really thought we were past the ear infections, which is why it wasn't even on my radar.

     I'm hopeful that the next round of Meds and ear drops will be the answer but I'm already (mentally)  prepping for another surgery.

    On the plus side, I'm going for the sympathy vote/sickly kid angle for March Madness.

  • Connor once had pneumonia and I put off going to the dr for a few days to avoid going in and them saying it was a virus and to give him fluids and rest. It happens to all parents at some point, unless you're a paranoid freak I think. There's no perfect way to balance over and under reacting to their behaviors/symptoms/health when they are young.
