Re: Morning

  • Morning! Today is my last day before vacation!! So we have morning swim with E and my Mum, I have to meet a lady to talk to her about cloth diapers and bring her a bunch to try and then finish packing, somewhere in there I have to go for a walk with M.

QOTD: He!! no! I think I'd mess my pants before even getting out of the door!

  • Morning! No real plans for the weekend, but tosay I am going to an English speaking babies under one playgroup. I went for the.first time last week and had a really good time. QOTD: No. Skuydiving, bungee jumping and other activities like them are on my never ever list. I am.scared of heights.

  • Good morning! This Sunday I'll be hosting the in-laws for lunch. I'm a bit nervous since MIL and SIL are picky eaters (if it's green, it's a no go) and I often forget what they won't eat. They'll just have to learn Wink

QOTD: No. Way. DH wants to sky dive though.

  • Morning.  We have our first scan this evening, which means its going to be a long day before that appointment.  Hopefully work will be busy.

No big plans for the weekend.  We're looking at a couple more flats and then having dinner with a friend that's moving back to the states.

QOTD: I would love to!  I even had it booked when I was in New Zealand, but it got cancelled last minute because of weather.  I was bummed and have never gotten around to booking anything else.

  • Already afternoon for me! I'm doing pretty well. A little bit bored, but I'm hoping that once we are in the apartment that will get better. At least then I can fill my down time with cooking and projects. :) This weekend we might go in to Shanghai but we already know we will be in Hong Kong next week so I'm not sure yet.

QOTD: I have never and I'm not sure I want to. I'm not totally opposed to it but I don't have a burning desire either. Seems like the kind of thing you have to really want to do in order to get over any fear.

    This would be me.

We?re just going to run some errands later and hang out at the house. Nothing special planned, and no plans for the weekend. I?m supposed to go to a b-day party this weekend. I have no idea what to give the girl since she said no alchohol and I don?t know her that well. Sigh. Chocolates?

  • Morning.  Tired this morning - N woke a number of times during the night and I ended up going in to her for a bit at around 3am... don't know what the problem was cos as soon as I held her she cuddled in to me and sucked her thumb... not like her at all! Do babies get bad dreams?

My weekend starts this evening! The joys of a 4 day week at the moment!! Getting my hair done tomorrow, grocery shopping, some knitting.  Saturday morning we'll go for a nice walk by the sea (after dh goes to the dentist ha!) followed by an afternoon of rugby.  Sunday, dh is playing golf so I don't know what I will do as I may not have the car...

QOTD: I'm not sure... when I was younger I really wanted to do one but never got around to doing it.  Now I don't have the same desire to do it but if the opportunity came up I might go for it.  Not a chance in he!! that I'd do a bungee jump though!!!  Held up by an elastic band?  No thank you...

  • Morning! We have caught the never-ending cold and I just want it to go away!!! We had to cancel playgroup today because of it, so there's not much going on here other than blowing / sucking out noses and coughing. Blah.

QOTD: Nope. I would kind of like to challenge myself to see if I would actually have the guts to jump, but the scariest part for me would probably be taking off in the little plane. I'm terrified of flying. But who knows, I might actually feel better about it with a parachute on my back :-)

  • I am trying to have an obsession & worry-free day. I have resolved to wake up today and not ponder any of the adjustment issues DD seems to be having to life in France or ponder whether my editor's silence in New York means anything more than that he is reading the 800 pages I just sent him 2 weeks ago or ponder how in the heck I am going to entertain the slew of visitors that begin to arrive in mid-March and don't leave until mid-May. (Yeah, yeah, I know I've mentioned the 8-week stretch of visitors on here before, but REALLY? We even have people coming for a couple of nights from London when one set of visitors is doing a weekend trip away from Paris, how's that for overbooked?)

Weekend plans: I am trying to escape to see a movie and have drinks with a friend for an evening, sans my DD or DH. Her kids have been shipped off to the grandparents' for the winter break and I'd like to pretend, for a night, that I can live a similarly carefree life.

Is sky diving the same thing the Brazilians call "asa delta" or is it the one where you jump out of a plane? Maybe the thing I did in Rio is actually called "hand gliding?" Regardless of what it was actually called, it was amazing. But if you mean the thing where you jump out of a plane with a parachute, I haven't done it and haven't thought much about it.

Just curious - what are the past tense and past participle of "sky dive"? Sky dove? Sky dived? Skied dive? ;-) Does anyone know?

I would say skydived.  The act of doing it is skydiving so I would think that the tenses are done on the "dive" part of it rather than on the "sky".  However, according to that all knowing source of everything, wikipedia says that past tense of dive can either be dove or dived.  North American = dove, British = dived.  (look under the usage notes... ).  If I saw "dove" I would always think of the bird...

    It's ok, I know I'm a nerd...

  • Hello! I just woke up and am all groggy....must. have.tea. now.

This weekend, I will be in Rouen with my inlaws. Tomorrow I am having lunch with MIL and I am really excited to see her because it has been like two months. After that, the ILs are going to the opera so I am pretty sure to have the house to myself for part of the evening and I fully intend on taking advantage of the BATHTUB!!! Yay! A bath for Myblue, oh she is soooo happy that she is now speaking in 3rd person ;)

Anywho, those are my exciting plans for the weekend! Today will consist of cleaning and grocery shopping.

QOTD: I've considered it before and probably would have actually done it if the opportunity presented itself when I was younger. But now the risks vs rewards for an unnecessary thrill don't seem to be worth  it. Also, my MIL has made H swear that  he will never do it, and he is the one I tried to get to go with me.

So "Last weekend I skydove" (AE)? Dove sounds correct as the past tense of dive for my American ears, but skydove just sounds strange. (And I know the "sky" wouldn't be conjugated, just threw that out there for fun :-)) Maybe it just sounds strange to me because we usually use go +gerund for activities, though (go fishing, go skiing, go skydiving), so in the past I would usually say "I went skydiving last weekend." Still, it's good to know since someone in one of my English classes is guaranteed to ask if the verb "to skydive" ever comes up...

  • Hi all. We don't have any big weekend plans.

QOTD: I would. I don't necessarily want to, so I wouldn't seek it out. If I happened to be with people who wanted to go sky-diving, I probably wouldn't say no. I'm scared of heights but I try not to let that stop me. But who knows? Maybe I'd chicken out at the last minute.

  • Hi all! No big plans for the weekend. I have a training session all day on Saturday, so I'll be busy with that.

I don't think I would ever go skydiving. I have a hard enough time when I fly.

I think I would say "Have you ever been/gone skydiving?" instead of "Have you ever skydove?".  For some reason go skydiving seem to go together and sound better to me.

  • Good morning!

No plans for the week end, as of yet. We have bowling coupons to use that will still be valid next week end if we don't make it this one.

I'd love to skydive, provided I found some one I'm close to to go with... hubby would definitely be a no-go! lol
