What food/snacks do you bring on vaca
Our flight home from Aruba was hell, it was like 3 hours late and they ran out of food, Dd did not eat at the airport and got sick on the plane. This time I will be prepared for the way to England and the way home. I think I will have cereal bars, asqueezeable apple sauce (in a Baggie of course). What do you bring? Before kids we just traveled with junk like candy but I need to try to prevent Dd from throwing up.

Re: What food/snacks do you bring on vaca
flights to/from europe have far more food than just to the caribbean with a snack.
can you choose special food for her ont he plane? the veggie or kosher option? why do you think she'd throw up or what made her throw up ont he other flight? was it airsickness or somethig she ate?
dh and i generaly bring some granola bars, dried fruit, goldfish etc.. nothign crazy.
What about peanut butter crackers? Or a peanut butter sandwich? Fruit like apples or bananas?
If she got sick as a result of motion sickness, then I would recommend buying ginger ale or Sprite/7-Up after going through security. Additionally, bringing some ginger candy and saltines might help and make sure she doesn't eat anything super greasy. I am not sure if she is old enough to be given dramamine or any other sort of motion sickness medication?
We usually bring just pretzels for a snack but always make sure to eat a full meal before leaving home or while at the airport. The flight to Europe will definitely have more food but bringing her favorite snacks should help.
We brought cereal bars, granola bars, etc. and peanut butter crackers. Other times I have brought string cheese & gogurt.
We bought big bottles of water once inside security at the AP prices of course but at least you don't have to wait until the poor crew gets around to you.

I was just going to say this... definitely double-check the customs rules. One that I just heard was that for Peru pre-packaged granola bars are okay, but homemade might not make the cut.
As far as snacks, I don't have kids yet, but my husband and I usually take granola bars, trail mix, fruit (apples, pears, grapes), snack crackers (e.g. Goldfish), crackers and peanut butter. Something not too messy and healthy.
Thank you to PP about the ginger chew recommendation - I'm going to get some to have on the buses in Peru in case I get motion sick!
I usually pack the following (a few for the flight, and others in my checked baggage for the trip) - granola bars/protein bars, 100-calorie packs of nuts and pretzels, dried fruit, fruit chews, individual cereals. I like having healthier snacks for the plane, as well as quick breakfasts (cereal and granola bars) and snacks on the go for trips that are heavy on sightseeing. I also request vegetarian meals for the flights because I find them more palatable - on a recent flight I got vegetable curry that was actually good.
She gets car sick VERY often, it is getting better but not perfect. She threw up b/c she ate nothing at all but she could easily get sick besides that.
Oh, to someone that said peanut products, I would not bring those b/c of kids with allergies, I know someone who cannot fly anymore b/c of their kid's peanut allergy.
And thanks for the ginger suggestions, I might try that. I might even be willing to order the kids ginger ale as a special treat they are only allowed on the plane.
definitely the ginger chews and ginger ale (i think that is a good idea for a special treat while at the airport/on the plane). there's kids bonine, which might also make DD drowsy for the flight.
we almost always bring pretzels, graham sticks, or some kind of cookie. we usually bring sandwiches if we want to sleep through the meal. we buy juice once we're through security. when coming home from london, mcvitie's chocolate digestives and cadbury are a must
did you convince DS to unpack some of his suitcase?
He took a few things out, it is still super packed but he has some clothes like swim suits in there so it's ok, lol.
This makes me feel better that I am not the only one that takes food.
For the kids I have bit size grahams, granola bars, goldfish and that's really it. Enough to get us through a long day if needed. I also had some m&m's as a surprise last time we flew. We've been flying Virgin America lately and they have great kid packs they sell and great snacks for adults. We love the cheese cracker platter and so do the kids!
