Re: BR: Baby Roll Call
*points to siggy* That's from Tuesday evening, and this one is from Tuesday morning:
Samma is cray-cray. She just turned 17 months on Monday, and it's been a whirwind of everything. The poor thing has been battling another round of bronchiolitis and ear infections, but she's a trooper, and really hasn't let it affect her demeanor. She loves crawling in and out of her Cozy Coupe, has been climbing into and onto everything she can, and walls can no longer contain her.
Her vocabulary is growing by the day, and that which she can't speak, she can convey well enough to make me understand. Her favorite food is currently cubed-up apples, and can ask for them by name. Mama and Dada have become her favorite words, especially when she wakes up at 6am and is ready to get up. She is still in her crib, and has made no notion that she wants any time soon, and I am ok with this. Nighttimes have become easier as well, and now she tells me when its time for "ni-ni" and I can bring her up to her bed, she'll snuggle into her PillowPal, and I can tuck her in and she says "bai-bai Mama." So that paired with the big bear hugs she gives now, it's so awesome.
The one this right now that is griding my hears is her temper tantrums, especially when she wants something, I know she wants something, she can't have the something, and I tell her no. It's tiring, especially in the mornings when I'm half-asleep, but they usually end just as soon as they began, until she finds something else she wants that I don't want her to have. Terrible Twos, they say? No way man... it starts as soon as they turn 1 and/or can walk, I swear.

This is my favorite recent pic:
What she's doing these days: Lots of talking, lots of singing, she likes to climb on things and stand up and say TADAAAA!, she loves to color and draw, she still loves bath time, loves to go for walks, loves to eat. Favorite sayings these days are: "Hi guys!" "Bye y'all!" "Sorry!" "Gabba please!" Favorite foods are still blueberries, strawberries, cheese sticks. Recently discovered a deep love for quesadillas.
What drives me crazy these days: She's still pretty easy, but she does LOVE to climb on stuff. When we tell her to get down she usually cries and says "sorry!" which breaks my heart.
Charlie is 11ish weeks and is developing quite the personality! He smiles and coos a ton and has kind of started laughing.
I can't post pics now, but if we're friends on Facebook there's a ton on there.
He just started rolling from belly to back last week, but he can't do it every time yet. He gets pretty frustrated when it doesnt work!
I go back to work next Thursday and have been having panic attacks thinking about leaving him at dc 3 days a week
he's just so little and helpless that I'm afraid they won't be able to give him the attention he needs. I know it's irrational because I grilled the dc to the point of their annoyance, but I can't help it!
I've been thinking about making my own baby food when the time comes. Any tips on that? Websites? Books?
Well, this one is over a month old, but I totally love it. This was during our little Snowmageddon.
Chillin in her climber (dressed like a boy, I know).
And this one is from last night. FTR, my husband is the one who insisted on cushioning the edges of our tables...he is for some reason far more concerned about falls than I am
Newt is all over the place. Same age as Samma. She's mastered her slide, both sliding herself down and climbing back up it. The girl is fearless, and I see many ER visits in our future. She's added several words to her vocabulary, the really important ones, like Giraffe, Stars, and Elmo. She says Please when asking for something, but we're still working on Thank You. She can almost walk down the stairs herself, although she fell the other night, so I've made her go back to holding my hand. We're starting to open more of the house to her, so child proofing is still a thing in progress. She gets the biggest kick out of giving us kisses before bed. J tripped on a toy and fell the other night, and she came running up to him on the ground, said, "Dad!" kissed his head, then ran off. Adorbs. She can almost jump too, and she roams around with her dinosaur toy going "rawr, rawr, rawr". Next month we're going to get her a little potty, so we can start getting her comfortable/familiar with it for when we move into potty training, weeeee.
My two biggest grips right now are the tantrums, omg, most of the time I so want to laugh because they are absolutely ridiculous, and like MB, they're almost always when she wants something she can't have or when we've told her not to do something. We just let her get it out of her system (luckily, they've all happened at home) but man can she shriek, it likes nails on a chalkboard. The second is her eating is all out of whack right now. She's suddenly soooo picky that most of the time she barely eats. I know its just a phase, but I try really hard to get her to eat good food that when she won't eat I feel like she's starving or not getting the types of nutrients she needs. Things she used to love she won't touch now, and for some reason she like hates meat. Poor thing is already so scrawny.
Weston is 19 months. He is the biggest love bug. He loves to give kisses
He says well over 100 words and many phrases. He knows most of his body parts(hair, head, eyes, eyebrows, chin, cheek, ears, chest, belly, leg, foot, toes), many animal noises, some shapes and colors. He says please and thank you and loves to share. He is ALL boy. He loves cars, trains, and trucks. On drives he is always saying "vroom vroom" and "beep beep." He is a HUGE flirt and loves the ladies. He runs, climbs, jumps, spins, dances and is pretty much all over the place. He loves animals. He has also peed on the potty multiple times and pooped once.
He luckily doesn't throw many tantrums anymore but he does enjoy the word "no" a little too much.
I took this last night. I didn't want to leave his cute little butt for the whole world to see but I love this picture too much not to share!
Pic *see siggy* from last month - new photos to come this weekend from his 1st Birthday Party!! I cannot believe it...and at the same time I can. When I look back through the monthly photos I took I can't believe just how much he's changed!
He now says "Mama," "Ma," "Mommy," "Dada," "Daddy," "That," "Hi," "Yeah," "Yup," "Ball" and "Book." He took his first step yesterday - Joel saw, I did not but I'm okay with that for all we know he's done it at daycare already anyways. I'm not rushing the whole walking thing because we already have a hard time keeping up with his speed crawling!
He loves to put things into other things and take them back out. He also like to sort things. He'll dump one of his little toy bins and then pick through his toys, examining each one and then he'll put only his blocks back in or only his rings back in with out us prompting him to. If an object doesn't belong he tosses it over his shoulder which is hysterical! lol
He also pushes his little toy car around and says "Vrooooom vrooooom broooom"
Something he does that I don't like - he screams at the top of his lungs randomly when he's playing, it's SO loud and ear piercing and I've been trying to ignore it and not make a big deal about it in hopes he'll stop but he loves doing it lol.
ETA: He also loves to clap. If we say clap he'll clap, if we say "YAY!" he'll clap too - it's super cute.
For those of you doing daycare, how did you get them started..as in, did you just drop them off on the first day you went back to work and hope they handled it okay, or did you start taking them like a week or two before, so if you needed to come get them for some reason, you could?
If I ever find a job, we'll be putting Newt in daycare, which I'm actually pretty excited about, but I'm really really nervous because she's older and already has some pretty bad separation anxiety, and I'm really worried that at least the first few days, she'll literally be screaming the whole day, but I won't be able to get her because I'll be at the new job. I hope this question is making sense. I mean, what do they do with screamers?
I guess it depends on where you go. We've had Sam in some sort of daycare since she was 3 months, so it's just something she's grown accustomed to. However, when we started with our current care provider, there was a 2 year old who was in a similar situation - mother had never worked while she was with her, and then it was time for her to start daycare, and yeah, she was a screamer. Our woman was awesome though, and tried her hardest to help the girl feel comfy. Some days were better than others, but after two weeks she had to tell the mother that she just wasn't able to do it any longer because she was monopolizing her time. She felt bad, but it was honest....

Gabby is doing great....except for her ear infection. The kid cannot catch a break & her nose as not stopped running for well over 6 weeks. Anyways, tomorrow she will be 5 months old ! She is currently obsessed with her exersaucer. Seriously. The other night I was trying to rockher to sleep and she just kept reaching for the alligator that is on it. She has unbelievable head control and can *almost* sit up unassisted. She has no desire to roll, though. Honestly, with the way her legs still go out from being breech, I don't think she can/will roll. Shen she has her tummy-time, she is starting to pull her legs up so she is on her knees. I have a feeling that rolling is just not in the cards and she will move directly onto crawling.
Other things she likes? This kid is vain already; she loves to run her hands through her hair. She has never pulled it (*knock on wood*) just loves to feel it. My mother says that it looks like she is trying to "fix" her hairstyle.

Charlotte is a crazy girl as well! We have started climbing, taking two to three steps and then jumping into my arms - she has no fear and I see lots of cuts and bruises in our future. You can see in one picture below she threw herself into my arms and caught my finger nail on the bridge of her nose. She says too many things- daddy, dog (usually calls them guhs,) cat, go, hi (which she yells like a crazy woman), balloon (boon) and of course my favorite Kelly (being sarcastic) - she yells some weird concoction of my name and Mark laughs- bad habit and its going to be hard to break. She has only said mama a handful of times and its usually when she is whining.
She eats like a crazy lady, still sleeps like crud, and doesn't sit still well. Current stats 21lbs, 30.5 inches long - very tall and thinning out. First birthday is going to be soon. Starting planning and its crazy to believe that she will be one.
Here are a few pics-
photo at Ikea while we were in-between my sisters races
And this is exactly what I'm afraid of. Ugh.
Also, I just want to say, we've all made so damn fine looking kids.
Here's a pic of Nathan doing "So Big" on the rocking horse at our Photographers studio, she photo shopped the cowboy hat and lasso in. I think it's quite hysterical!
He's just about 11 months now and I can't believe how fast it's gone. I'm planning his first birthday which is making this whole turning-a-year-old thing seem actually real.
He's almost walking. He'll take 10+ steps at a time then get down and crawl because it's a whole lot faster. He only has 2 teeth still but he eats like he has a full set. He uses those 2 suckers to tear everything he eats so we have to give him bigger pieces now! He LOVES yogurt, trying to use his own spoon, playing his drum, watching Mickey Mouse Club House, eating, sleeping, talking and getting into things. He's learning "No" so he is absolutely testing it. He won't say "Mama" yet. Just "Dada" and every other "a" word. He's wearing 18-24 month clothes and is in a size 5 diaper
One thing he does that drives me crazy is his obsession with our phones or the remote. We have given him my old iPod touch and an old remote and those just aren't the same. I can hardly look at it without him dropping everything to come and get it.
All in all, so far it's been an amazing year. He's such a good boy and my life wouldn't be the same without him.
Here's more cute pics!
lol
Happy Valentines Day!
and a birthday smash!

I figured we all need to talk about our babies every now and again.
And if it's any consolation, Samma wasn't breeched, and didn't roll over until she was 6 months old. And now look at her!

I make my own. I just google things sometimes but for the most part I followed this website:
http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/
I don't have a special baby food maker. I use my mini chopper
Ice cube trays for fruit and these containers from Babies R Us for vegetables
Just for the record, (and I posted this on Rach's FB) Nate didn't need pureed food for that long. I think I only pureed for like a month. Then I just started mashing the cooked food for the most part except peas and beans. More often than not, I roast the fruit or vegetables too so I didn't need a thing that had a steamer. Anything I did steam, I just did so on the stove. I already owned the mini chopper so all I purchases were 2 ice cube trays and 2 boxes of those containers I posted totaling $23. I use snack bags to store the stuff that was in the ice cube trays, bananas, avocados ( I leave the skin on to prevent them from turning as brown,) and chopped soft cooked fruits and veggies. I use the small rubbermaid containers for any individual soups I cook. I put all the meatballs, broccoli bites, muffins etc in separate large zip lock bags. Then I take them out as needed and microwave for about 30 seconds or I let them sit out for a bit before dinner time. Nate typically eats what we eat now plus a mashed veg/fruit so that I know he definitely got one.
It's been pretty easy to do. I do a batch every sunday. I have a basket for fruit and a basket for vegetables so they're separated and I don't have to write on them. That was the most annoying part. I write on things that look similar but I don't worry about it that much. I can't make too much bc my freezer isnt that big so the stuff never gets too old.
HTH sorry it turned into a novel!
:Blog:
I'm perfectly ok with her not rolling. I mean, we won't have to worry about her ending up on her tummy in the middle of the night
(see, there's a silver lining to everything!) Just with the way her legs go out, they provide too much stability so that she is firmly on her back.

If anyone wants it, I have a hand crank food mill that I never used that you're welcome to. It's still in the box.
In regards to baby food making - we do both. We buy purees and make them. Alex doesn't like the texture of whole veggies - we keep trying them though. Things he'll eat that aren't pureed are avocado, apples, bananas, grapes, corn and obviously breads.
I mostly roast the veggies too and I just use my food processor. I've done all Alex's meats this way. Chicken, turkey and steak - once pureed I put into little freezable containers and label them. His favorite thing is when I mix a little milk and garlic breadcrumbs in with the meat and make little meatballs or spears. He picks those up and says "Mmmm" with every bite! Now that his top four teeth have come in he can actually take bites now so we're going to move away from the purees. I've only held on to them this long because he seems to prefer them and I worry about him getting enough variety and nutrition. He does great with finger foods but sometimes he plays more than eats which I know is normal and in those cases I make sure he eats extra puree.

Here is a picture from Hunter's 6month phoot!
He is getting so big! (7months today!) He is sitting up, and starting to pull himself up on things. He has also mastered the backwards crawl, but can't go foward. He is now eating purees and loves them. We are still BF and he finally takes a bottle well (he fought it for a long time, especially if I tried to give it to him). I'm very proud of him!
Our Niner babies are so adorable!! I always love seeing pics of them all either on her or on FB.
So Evie is just over 10 months and we are planning her birthday party already. The little bean is just over 18lbs and is just under 28 inches.
Evie only started crawling at 8.5 months and is now everywhere I don't want her to be! As much as I wanted her to move around, because I know it would make her less needy for me, I didn't want to worry about baby-proofing the house. She's been pulling herself up on furniture and is starting to "cruise" but I think I have at least another month before she starts taking steps without assistance.
She seems to pick up things quickly once she knows how to do it, which kind of scares me a little. She's been signing and knows when to use words like "dog", "more", "milk" and "eat". Evie loves to talk and can say "Dada" and "Mama", as well as "dog" and "more". She mostly just does sounds for now though.
As far as eating, she eats what I eat for the most part. Or I should say I eat what she eats. LOL. I have definitely simplified the way I eat.... I don't eat as many processed foods or fast foods because I end up sharing whatever I eat with Evie. I notice I eat a lot of chicken, rice and beans.... but that's really normal fare considering my heritage. Evie especially loves rice and beans. She is so Dominican!
But she also loves blueberries, yogurt, pasta (with whatever sauce its served with) and avocados. She will pretty much eat anything you put in front of her but she has her favorites. In fact, I'm amazed what she can eat with no teeth!
Speaking of teeth, Evie does not have any yet! There is one tooth just emerging and it's sharp as anything. As with crawling, I'm in no rush for her to have teeth. She is still nursing, so if her teeth come in after a year, I'm totally OK with that!
This is a pic of her at 10 months
My Acme Box last update 3/28/11
First of all, I think Kelly was taking a stab at me for posting a photo of a naked Kyler on Facebook, bare booty and all.
But ya know what? I LOVE baby butts and think they should be seen daily -- the world would be a better place.
Anyway, here's a pic I took last night after his bath with my phone. I still can't believe my little blondie started out as a brunette!
Kyler's almost 9 months old. He's about 20.5 lbs and so tall he can wear some 12 - 18 month clothes! He started crawling last month and now he's a speed demon. He's also pulling himself up onto everything and he can even climb two flights of stairs! I will freak out if he starts walking early -- it's hard enough having such a fast crawler on my hands! He also loves pulling open any drawers that aren't baby proofed.
He's babbling like crazy, with lots of da's, ba's, na's, and occasionally mama. He also loves to say his "t's" in kind of a soft whisper. I'll often hear him repeating "tuh, tuh, tuh" over and over! He does "s's" too occasionally and sounds like he's hissing. And Christina, I feel your pain on the screeches. Kyler also does that when he's playing, and it is definitely ear-piercing!
He's been clapping for a few weeks now, but when we say "Yay," he raises his arms in the air instead! It's really cute. He usually claps randomly on his own accord, but occasionally he'll do it if he sees us doing it.
He's a super inconsistent sleeper. He slept 10 hours straight on Wednesday night, but was up three times last night. Argh!
As for food, we've mostly moved off purees and only spoon feed him applesauce (and yogurt soon.) He's been doing awesome with finger foods, and in another month, he'll likely be eating just about anything we eat. He loves carbs like his mama (loves Cheerios and bread of any kind) but he's doing pretty well with peas and other soft cooked veggies. He had hummus at daycare yesterday and really liked that too! Lastly, he has SIX teeth. He loves biting into Cheerios with his front teeth to make them crunch. I'm also still nursing and I HAVE been bitten a couple times, but fortunately it hasn't happened in about a month!
A little late but oh well.
Teaghan is 11months and we are in the midst of planning her 1st bday party. We have a guest list of over 80 ppl. It is minnie mouse themed because every time she sees minnie her face lights up.
I can't believe she is going to be 1, I feel like she was just born. At 11 months she is 17.4 pounds and 28 inches long. She is starting to walk and loves walking while holding your hand. She says mama, dada, baba, e which is the dog side we call him ebi. She also has hi and will blow kisses. when we say "yeah" she claps.
When it comes to eating she will pretty much eat anything you give her. She only has her two bottom teeth but the two top are starting to come in, but she chews like she has a mouth full. Some of her favorite foods are mac and cheese and yogurt. We don't really do purees anymore, I only give them to her if I feel she hasn't eaten enough regular food.
She loves to play with her toys and just figured out where I keep the basket and likes to go over and pull them out. BAth time is her favorite time of day, she would sit in there for hrs if I let her.
Very late here too but I miss you ladies.
Unfortunately, I've been unable to post due to work.
Nate is 13 months and his stats are : 21 lbs 30 inches long and 50th percentile for height and weight and 90th for head circumfrence heehee.
He says a few words but understands a ton more and communicates really well by pointing and gesturing. He walks really well and is very affectionate. He loves giving kisses and likes back massages! He is very focused and loves quietly playing with blocks, soft toy balls and stackable rings. He LOVES baths and could play in the tub for an hour if I let him.
He is a very sweet sensitive joyous little man and I love him to pieces even if he is still up at least once a night teething:(
