If you have a room or a corner...
I'm not asking necessarily about tools more about what tools you have (machines etc) but more what is the furniture, storage, accessories that you find yourself using more often than others.
I am in the beginning stages of planning for my craft loft in the house and I'm trying to think of the things I would like included.
Here's what I'm thinking
-island in the middle (counter height) for cutting fabric/assembling projects this will have a cut out on one side to sit on a stool
- other end of island will be desk height and have the sewing machine
- Storage/drawers around the island
- L shaped counter with a utility sink. Other machines will be spaced around the counter with outlets throughout. Cricut, cuttlebug, paper cutter, yudu, yourstory.
- sky light and 1 medium sized window
- Closet/shelving on backside of fireplace.
- Maybe pegboard some where?
Am I missing anything?
Re: What are your craft space essentials...
I actually prefer for my sewing machine to be at counter height. I like to sew standing up to take stress off of my back, and when I need to, I sit/lean/perch at a tall stool
I have slatwall instead of pegboard. I like the way it looks better, but I really only have it because I got a great deal on it....that and because I thought it was cool that I could get all of the cool hooks and display racks that stores have. Not that I have all of that stuff, but I could.
I have a couple of tables that fold and I can roll them out of the way. I like to use them to extend my work surface for cutting out patterns or to hold up the weight of big projects like quilts or big costumes.
ETA: The tables are the rolling craft/cutting tables that JoAnns puts on sale fairly often.
I also have a wall of shelves that I can't imagine functioning without. We built it ourselves, and it has adjustable shelves so that I can arrange the heights to fit my storage containers and all (well...most) of my stuff. ;p
I like the idea of a few tables that can fold and you can roll them out and extend them.
On your shelving maybe one that holds paper
I like the shelving where her stamps are, but I think yours are in binders though, if I remember correctly

You could add maybe some metal sheets to back of cabinets for things like this

I can't wait to see your room
I don't have any good pictures, so I'll try to describe what I have, working my way around the room. I don't have a middle table, although one day, that's the plan.
Looking in the room from the door: Small repurposed night stand with a shelf and drawer. Printer on top, all paper, including photopaper on shelf. Next to that, a tall paper holder (http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/23-tier-scrapbook-paper-tower--black)
Then starts the 'desk' area. I got everything from Ikea. I have a 5? drawer end piece (drilled holes for knobs from Anthropologie-LOVE) and on top is a 5? ft table top. On the right end are 2 regular legs. This is connected to a 3ft corner piece. This is where my Cricut lives. This whole area is scapbooking/card making area. Connected to the corner piece on the right side is a 4ft table top for my sewing machine. On the far right end, there is a cabinet with a door and 2 tall shelves. Off to the side is a tall bookshelf with all my fabric. I REALLY love my set up and think it's going to last me quite some time.
I don't have a space (
) but my MIL has a super nice workshop. She has a tall table in the center of the room (it was my FIL's grandmother's table) that she uses to cut and a wall of tables for sewing machines, embroidering machine and her serger. She recently installed cubbies for storage, though I haven't seen that yet, and she has 2 big hutches for patterns, yarn & crochet hooks, stock shirts, etc.
My big thing will be a space to have my fabric stored correctly. Right now everything is in plastic totes in my garage.

Pegboard for sure!
I have a vintage dresser I keep everything in.
I am in love with my peg board (the baskets I bought for it are the best part). Your list looks awesome (I'm dying for a counter height cutting space), the only other thing is some kind of ironing station? I have an old bathroom vanity that I am redoing for an ironing station that will provide me with a bigger ironing space and quite a bit of storage. I'm putting it on casters so I can roll it around. My electrician husband is kind of a nazi about putting all of your expensive machines on surge protectors as well. And shelving, shelving, shelving!
Can't wait to see pics!!

I might be weird, but I made sure to have a space for a TV and places for my dogs & cat to sleep in the room with me. The cat has taken over one end of my ironing board by the window to watch birds, so I'm going to find a way to build a shelf for her to look out.
I LOVE my pegboard, but I would have made it bigger. (I still could b/c I have more in the garage, but it's hard to get DH motivated to help me)
Sounds like what you have planned is pretty awesome already. If you are going to have several work areas, I would suggest having multiple chairs/stools. I have my computer/sewing machine/serger in here & two chairs even though it's not a very big room. I find it very useful not to have to adjust my chair going from one task to another & sometimes DH will come in and sit with me while I work which is also nice.
- book shelves for storage
- table space to work at
- comfortable chair
I only have my kitchen table to work at so I currently operate out of 2 book cases and the table. I am amazed at what I can get done.
I have a tv too...I can't function without some company, and tv is my white noise and helps me think. My tv is old (has a built in vcr-lol) and is on a wall mounted shelf that I can turn in whatever direction I want. I like to play old, familiar movies so that I can listen and don't have to look unless I really want to see a particular scene.
I don't like my dogs in my studio, unless they are in their screened in pen and completely enclosed, and my partner's cat is a pita when we work at her house (although I blame my partner, not the cat). ;p I try to keep pet hair off of the costumes we make, and that is hard to do when a cat lays down on your work while you are trying to iron it.
My dad's workspace has this island that is from an old technology classroom. It has 12 cubbies on each side...perfect size for storing all the pieces to started projects. I'd like it.
I do the same with movies.. (and glee). DH got me a flat screen w/ apple tv for xmas which is really great, but at the same time it took away the cat's sleeping spot on the old giant tv. lol
I keep a lint roller around for cat hair removal.. but I don't sell anything so it's not such a worry for me. If I had paying customers, I'd probably kick her out.
