I swear my H is so accident prone and must love to make me sit in the ER. He cut his finger today and couldnt get the bleeding to stop after an hour so I took him to a walk in clinic. Well he actually cut the tip off and the clinic Dr said he'd need a plastic surgeon to graft something there since there was nothing to stitch. So after spending 1 hr there, she had us drive to the main hospital 45 min away without calling there to confirm he'd actually need a plastic surgeon.
After another 3 hours in the ER waiting room we are finally seen and that ER Dr starts laughing when we say we were referred here for plastics and says his finger is just fine and while it wont all grow back, it will heal on its own just fine. The ER Dr was appalled the 1st Dr didnt know this and made us drive all the way there. To top it off, I already have all the stuff I need to keep it wrapped so basically we wasted an entire day and 2 ER bills for nothing. What the FRICK?!?!?! Another missed day of work to sit at a hospital. At least hes okay...
Re: Another ER trip (but nothing too bad)
I support this 100%! H cuts his hands ALL the time and just duct tapes it. So at first I was like, ah wait it out you'll be fine but after an hour it was still gushing. It was so bloody we couldn't see how much was missing. Its actually still bleeding (9 hrs later) but they said it would take a long time to scab over.
That sounds horrible!
Thank goodness it's nothing more serious, though.
I'm so aggravated about having to pay 2 bills when I thought the whole purpose of the smaller walk in clinics was to save you money! Well obviously not if they are staffed with morons. And this walk in clinic is affiliated with a really great hospital in our area, its such a shame they have this one really bad Dr.
Gah, that is a bad day! I hope you get some YOU time soon to relax, maybe a pedi or massage in the near future!
My dad once sliced his middle finger tip off with a paper slicer & had to get it stitched back on. Gross!
Hope your H's cut heals quick, get that Neosporin out!
Yikes! I'm glad he's ok, but what a long, rough day.
