How do you store your vinyl?

I got a Silhouette for Christmas and I'm having a blast playing with it. The problem is that I have vinyl laying around EVERYWHERE!

I started putting scraps into a bucket so that I can use them for smaller projects (I plan to get a 12x12 plastic scrapbook paper holder so that they can lay flat) and I can put all of my rolls into a bucket or box, but what about 12x24 sheets?

I don't do many large projects, so I'll probably buy 12x12 sheets from now on, but I have at least twenty 12x24" sheets right now. What do you do with yours? Thanks!

Re: How do you store your vinyl?

  • I don't have as big of sheets as you do. When I purchased my cricut last year I didn't want to start with such large sheets so I just have 6x12 sheets. But I store mine in a 7 drawer sterilite tower. I just have it all in one of the drawers. They do have other larger storage containers that could hold larger sheets. I eventually want to purchase another larger sterilite 4 drawer cabinet to hold larger items like this. I hope this helps!
  • Thanks for the suggestion! I've been hesitant about cutting my sheets in half, but I think that's what I'll end up doing to store them. If I have any specific projects that require large sheets I can always reorder what I need. Thanks, again!

  • I also cut my 12x24 sheets into 12x12 sheets. I've never attempted a project bigger than a 12x12 sheet can handle.

I just bought a simple 12 inch three drawer container from Wal-Mart. I don't separate my vinyl by color like I do my paper, so sheets go in one drawer, scraps in another, and transfer tape in the last one.

  • I actually store mine rolled, by color in an upper section of my desk. I just put a loose hairband around the roll to hold it from unrolling. It usually doesn't cause any issues with it being rolled, but I generally need it to be as long as possible to prevent waste. I also save my scraps. Can't bear to throw it away. :)
