firedancer22 and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad chafing

warning: TMI ahead!!!

so i ran yesterday.  way less than i wanted to, thanks to a swarm of mayflies that made me turn around and head home, but i ran nonetheless.

i came home and showered, and it felt like my bewbs were on FIRE.  when i got out of the shower, i peeked under them (yes, they are big girls), and caught a real fright.  this is the very first time i've had ANY chafing, ANYWHERE, and it is horrible.

today, i got some monistat anti-chafe powder, and patted it in all over before donning my brassiere.  then, i decided i'd had enough, and i went bra shopping today. i am tossing a number of bras that i think probably have loosened elastic, or just don't fit as well as they should.  so i got to macy's to do this shopping, and when i took off said brassiere, it was literally stuck to my body.  so (here's the TMI), this situation must be weeping or oozing ever so slightly.

WTF?!?!?!?

aside from investing in these new, better bras, and some body glide, what can i do?  specifically, i'm wondering what i should do to best help this heal.  it is uncomfortable to say the least.

Re: firedancer22 and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad chafing

  • You can put diaper rash cream or Aquaphor on it. Just wear something you don't mind getting gunk on. I use both of those for cycling chafing. Body Glide is your friend! Hope it heals soon! I know how painful it can be.
  • yeah.  I have had this before. it blows lots. luckily, it's been awhile since I've had that happen thanks to having the right bras and replacing them regularly.

I use A&D ointment and I will spray the under-boob area with some bactine if it is bad enough to be weeping.  (note: bactine burns.  a lot.)

def get some new bras.  and stay on top of replacing them!  nothing will convince you it's time to get that $60 sports bra faster than some under-boob chafe.

    good luck and godspeed.

  • God, I have no advice but that gave me the salty taste in my mouth (out of fear).

I think it's time I invest in new sports bras. I usually double down on bras when I run, but these DDDs sometimes have a mind of their own.

  • I used Aquafor. Body gide is your friend for sure I use it all the time now and I only had a little chafing just enough to burn. Yours sounds painful. Sorry hope it heals soon!
