Had that doctor's appointment today.

Saw my doctor today.  She gave me a few options and then said she was fine with whatever I wanted to do.  I saw her back in August for my yearly, so knew we had been trying at that appt.

So the plan will be for me to have lab work done on day 3 of my next cycle.  I'll buy ovulation predictor kits to see if they can tell me anything and use them during that cycle.  At the beginning of the 2nd cycle from now they'll call in a prescription for Clomid for me, provided the lab work doesn't show something else being wrong.   I'll take the Clomid and use the OPKs and we'll go from there.

I'll also do my best to lose weight since that can only be a good thing.  I'm just satisfied that there is a plan in place.  Maybe being more positive about our chances will help things too.

  • Nice. I hope it feels good to have a plan. Sure sounds like ti does.

What does clomid do? I know I can look it up but I have never heard of it.

    It does feel good, thanks.

She didn't really say why Clomid for me.  But based on posts from around the boards and a quick Google search it will make sure that I'm ovulating.

  • Clomid is usually the first line of fertility treatments. I have used Clomid 6 times which is the max that they will let you do. Just an FYI Clomid gave me HORRIBLE motion sickness and I never get motion sickness. I don't think the first dose did it, but when they started increasing the doses it did a dozy on me.

Is she going to do any monitoring when you take the Clomid? OB/GYN tend to give it out like candy while RE are much more conservative with it.

She didn't mention any monitoring.  She just said when I get close to the end of the next cycle to call and they'll call in the prescription.

  • Glad your appointement went well and that you have a plan!

    What's an RE?

  • Clomid gave kate her 8, so you should really REALLY be monitered via dildo cam to see how many mature follices you develop. You don't want a whole litter!

Exactly my point. Taking Clomid without monitoring is a hot button on the IF board.

This article has some very good info on Clomid.

  • Oh I didn't know that Kate solely got 8 from clomid...I thought that she had done that but they did in vitro...whoops haha

But I agree it sounds odd that she'd just be like well yah we'll prescribe it and that's that...I mean glad that's an option for you but I would feel kind of lost like ok now what?
