An odd kind of PR

Today I ran with a teacher from school (a super experienced marathoner) and we averaged a 9:38 for 15 miles...finally a long slow distance run for me!  As a point of comparison, last week's 14 miles was at 8:50-ish pace, which was waaaaay too fast.

Today felt SO good...not once did I wonder why I run. Smile

  • You're awesome! I can't even run one mile at either of those paces!

  • I'm really struggling with the same issue right now, in fact, I was actually heading over here to post for advice. Same distances, same paces. Ran 14 at 8:46, need to be closer to 9:40, but I just can't do it. I need to figure it out!

  • nice work!  it's hard slow down, but you start to figure out how to do it when the distance gets really long.

the real question is: have you figured out what you can eat/drink yet?   you're going to start needing a little snack soon!

  • Great job! I found this weekend that running with my husband is much more enjoyable because I take it easy and don't push myself too hard. As soon as he calls it quits though, I pump into the 8:30-9:30 range and I kill myself. I can't keep that up for more than 4-5 miles.

I never thought I'd say it's hard to slow down, but boy is it.
