wedding present help

First of all, thank you so much for convincing me that it was okay to not go to the wedding today.  I'm so glad we weren't stressed to the max heading on that long trip.

Secondly, I made my friend (as well as for 2 other weddings) a homemade gift.  I know, big surprise.  I used to make quilts, but that's too time consuming now. So, instead I made monogrammed pillows.  His initial, Their last name initial and her first initial.

Like this, except the middle initial would be big:

H B J

I then hand embroidered  "est. 2/25/12" at the bottom, their wedding date.

They came out really nice..  I haven't taken pics yet, or I'd post a pic.

My question is...is this enough of a gift?  Or if not, what would you include...other than $$?  I like giving something more personal than $$$ for my mid 30s working friends.

Re: wedding present help

  • I should add that 2/3 aren't super close friends.  As in my husband has met them a couple times since we've been together 7 1/2 years.

The other friend is a good friend who I see all the time and I'm going to do a photo shoot for her and make a snapfish book or something similar as her other gift.

  • Super cute! I think the pillow is more than enough for each occasion, but I think adding the photos for your close friend is really nice.

  • I think it's enough.

If you bought them a $45 pillow from a PB registry it would be enough - but you went beyond and made something. I love my homemade pillow I got for our wedding. It was the only thing from the person who gave it to us*.

*though it may be slightly relevant that she passed away before finishing it so, really, she couldn't give anything else.

I still think it's all you need.

  • I think thoughtful gifts outweigh something that is store bought every time ;)

  • absolutely enough...they will treasure them forever, long after their blender and toaster oven need to be replaced  :)
