what running shoes do you have?

looking to get a new pair, is there a brand I should make sure i try on? right now i have avia, which i like but think there is probably better ones to run in. i am a beginner and running in my first race in a few weeks.

thx for any tips!

Re: what running shoes do you have?

  • Go to a local running store (not a chain) and get fitted for shoes.  What's a good shoe for me could be a disaster for you.  Everyone's foot and gait are different.

  • My shoes might not work for you. Go to a local running store (where they will watch you run on a tredmill) and get fitted.

  • I agree. Get fitted. It was one of the best things I did!
  • Get fitted! Fun and educational. :)

I've run in Asics, Saucony, Brooks, Nike, and Puma.

  • I'm not sure if anybody else has this problem, but I was having a tough time finding shoes wide enough for my foot. I literally busted out of the side of my first pair (yes, I was fitted at a running store). Next time I went in, I ended up getting a pair of men's running shoes. They fit me a LOT better and haven't worn out as quickly as my first pair. I currently have asics and really like them.

  • I'm newer to running but I have had good luck with New Balance and Nike so far. It will definitely be different for everyone - I have a friend who hates Nike, they just do not work for her at all.
