Missing Richmond, VA woman, possibly in NYC

I know that this is a little tacky of me, but there are a lot of folks in the NYC area on this board so I wanted to post this here.

This is Kaia. She has been missing since February 18th. She is a regular of the bar that I work in. I don't know her on a personal level but I have a lot of friends who do. She is one of my favorite patrons in the bar. She is a very sweet and giving person and I'm afraid her kindness may have gotten her into trouble. Please copy and paste this photo and caption on your Facebook pages and local bump boards.

ATTN: This is Kaia Sorensen from Richmond, VA and she is missing. She boarded a bus for New York City Saturday Feb 18th and has not been heard from since. She was planning on returning this past Tuesday. She left her cell phone at her home. She told people that she was going to stay with a friend and was going to take part in a photo shoot. If you have heard from her or know anything about her friend or photo shoot please call the anonymous tip line for Richmond, VA (804) 780-1000. Please share so she can come home safely.

Re: Missing Richmond, VA woman, possibly in NYC

  •  I really hope they find her safe! Sadly, in my experience working with crisis centers & the like, often "photo shoots" end up being a front for human trafficking in the sex trade. The girls get ambushed, drugged, bound & shipped out of the country.

That is just one of the horrors.

I don't think it's tacky. Use all the media you can. I remember that one bump poster on PAL (I believe) whose husband went missing. She got the word out on social media. He was found deceased (suicide), but these things need all the attention they can get.

I have contacts in NYC (I am west coast) & I will pass the info on. T&P for her, her friends & her family.
