Grandmama Update

Well two steps forward & a potentially big setback.

Gmama was doing so well in therapy & is even able to make it up to the restroom by herself. She got the sniffles last week, but was still on track to be able to go home my Mom's house that is all ready for her.

That little cold has morphed into full blown pneumonia. She had to be readmitted to the in-patient portion of the hospital. She is on breathing treatments etc. we just have to hope her immune system can pull out of the nosedive to bounce back.

It is a big blow to her confidence & she is depressed/not eating well. The doctor is trying to be optimistic, but with her age, previous health difficulties & whatnot-- it's hard to believe she will pull out of this one.

She had the same thing in 2009, but rallied to make it out of the hospital then. Boooooo I was hoping she could just get to my mom's & work from there. My poor mom is beside herself because all of this cratering happened after lunch.

So I would really appreciate it if TIP has some extra thoughts & prayers that this is not the end for my grandmother. She always wanted to die at home (not a hospital etc.).  -- so if this is the end of the line then I would hope that we can arrange hospice at my Mom's.

Re: Grandmama Update

  • Thoughts and prayers are coming right up.  It stinks that when you are old a stupid cold can be a huge deal and FUKCIN turn into pneumonia.
  • Thoughts and prayers are with you today, I'm sorry that you and your family are dealing with such a hard situation.

We went through a similar issue with my H's grandfather last year, and I hope that your grandmother gets her wish and gets to be at home for her final hours (whenever that happens), it was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life but I can honestly say that it was worth it in the end.
