PSA for those with sewing machines
Please remember to clean and oil your machine every once in a while.
I've never had a machine of my own and my Mom cleaned hers regularly and my MIL sends hers out for service so I never really thought about it.
Well after 1 year of 8 hours sewing/week my machine ground to a stuttering halt. Luckily, I was able to go out and buy oil, i gave it a huge once over and it is now as good as new but I'm guessing none of this was really good for it. So if you can't remember the last time you oiled your machine - I suggest you should do so. For it's own good.

My Blog
That's a good PSA. My book for my 1970s vintage brother recommends if you sew many hours at a time, oil once a day. If you only sew less frequently, oil once a week. My book for my mid 80s New Home says it never needs oiling. My sewing machine dude and I had a laugh over that one. :-)
