Ivy won me over during "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." I just thought it was really beautiful. I like how they go back and forth between the show characters and their "Marilyn" characters. I started to really like Ivy in this episode. But- she didn't really believe the "I have no gas in my apartment." story... did she?
Interesting about Michael and Julia! I loved the "you smell good" moment... I had not realized they had an affair until that point. I can't wait to see where that goes.
I enjoyed seeing Karen in her hometown. Her dad was really sweet.
I can see that I am going to end up despising the assistant!
I am really liking this show. Anyone else?

I am loving this show too, mostly Debra Messing and Angelica Houston.
I also DESPISE that assistant. No "going to" about it for me LOL
The ratings have declined rapidly in the last 2 weeks (26% last week and another 10% yesterday). I hope it makes it!
Debra is awesome.
I hope it makes it too! I was wondering how the ratings were. I think it has gotten better!

I much prefer Ivy over the other girl as a Broadway actress.
That being said, this episode bored me to tears and I've removed it from my DVR.
I like the show but it's already "routine" in the first three episodes. There's nothing groundbreaking or drawing you in. There's no wit like in Glee.
I am extremely disappointed in this show. There is no drama. There is less pull than a soap opera, IMO. They could really go somewhere with the assistant but so far it is pretty tame.
I will keep watching but this seems less interesting than Playboy club and that lasted 3 episodes. And I never want anything to be cancelled
I really enjoying it (but this week's episode was not as good). I am hoping for more singing/dancing when the workshop starts up.
This, exactly.
I really like Katharine McPhee; I was rooting for her on Idol and enjoy her debut album. I listen to it a lot to this day.
That being said, I find Smash totally boring and am very close to giving up on it. Megan Hilty bores me to tears, and there's nothing compelling about it. I feel like this show will lose viewers each week and possibly end up canceled---two seasons max. There's just nothing intriguing. I find the songs boring. Megan Hilty is like Marilyn Monroe as I am like Ava Gardner. It's an insult; she's not even remotely pretty. She doesn't evoke Marilyn at all. It'd be like Allyson Hannigan playing Rita Hayworth on screen; yeah, they might have the same color hair, but so what? (I know Rita's hair was originally black.)
I hate to be blunt, but I don't think Megan Hilty's hot, sexy, or sensuous enough to play Marilyn Monroe. I don't buy it. She kinda has a piggy-type face. She's not even cute or pleasing to the eye at all. Katharine McPhee, on the other hand, is stunning.
Smash is already beginning to fail, with a mere 6 million viewers and a miserable 2.3 in the demographic. I checked the #s.
ETA: Sorry for my recent critiques based on looks (HIMYM and now Smash), but we are talking about the very shallow, looks-centered entertainment industry, and we ARE supposed to believe she would be a credible Marilyn.
LOL. I get it, I get it. No judging here on the "looks" comments. I agree.
At any rate I like (liked?) this show. The good news for me is, if it is cancelled I still have 86 other season pass shows on my DVR.

I agree with PP that I love Ivy as a Broadway performer, but I'm not loving her as a person haha!
I couldn't stand Katharine Mcphee but she's growing on me now. I still don't think she would cut it as a Broadway performer in real life AT ALL which makes the whole show have this air of implausibility that is a little irritating.
But I do agree, they need to pump up the volume in the drama department if they want this show to last...I like it but it is going a little slow.
