Seriously. I am in love.
It's so nice to be able to drive 3 1/2 hours and be in a place where things are clean and orderly. I really like living in KL, but a part of me wonders what it would be like to live there.
So, what nearby city do you sometimes wonder about?
Re: I love Singapore
Well, apparently you'll have someone to visit there b/c you make a very convincing argument
Travel to more of Thailand and Indonesia? Yes, please. Now if only I can think of an easy way to transport all my dive gear in the allotted baggage...
For your question, I live in the only real city in the state, so I wonder what it would be like to live on a quiet neighbor island. Could I embrace the rural lifestyle of Kauai? It's so beautiful, there's so much hiking, and a vibrant local scene, but it's such a small "everyone knows everyone" type of place I don't know if I could handle it. I've lived in small towns, but I could drive to a city when necessary.
Then again, after only a few months in Honolulu, I was regularly running into people I know at bars and festivals, so maybe it's not too different since I live no more than an hour drive from any point on the island.
I can't believe I've been here for almost 3 years and haven't made it to KL yet. As a matter of fact, Johor Bahru is only a 20 minute drive north from our apartment, and we haven't even been there yet! Sad. Hopefully we'll get to KL this summer though. I may page you when it's time, for some input on things to do, if you don't mind.
Singapore is great, and I love it here, but there are plenty of things that drive me absolutely bonkers that I will not miss at all when it's time to go. But that's no different than anywhere else, is it?
