The weekend (long) workout post

Happy Weekend! Anyone else experiencing Bipolar Mother Nature?

What was your (long) workout this weekend?

What was the weather like and what did you wear?

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be?

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout?

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl!

Re: The weekend (long) workout post

  • I ran 11.25 this morning. Sunny and 35ish, great running weather. I'd give the run a 2 b/c I never found my groove. My pace was a minute off my last few runs, and the only reason I'm not giving it a 1 is I finished (and 11 miles at 7.5w post partum is kind of bad ass)

  • What was your (long) workout this weekend? 20.6 mile run.

What was the weather like and what did you wear? High 30s I think, mostly cloudy, and VERY windy. Wore regular tights, 2 LS tech shirts, sunglasses, Bondi Band, lightweight fleece hat, and a lightweight fleece neck gaiter. I needed it all and wasn't too hot or too cold, even with the wind.

Ninja runner/Blue Bandit anyone? (I was hiding in a port-a-potty ... usually try to spend as little time as possible in port-a-potties but it was the only place sheltered from the wind).

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be? 5. Even with the wind, it was one of those epic runs. I have gotten lucky this training cycle and have had 3 amazing runs over 19 miles. My overall pace comfortably stayed in the 8:10s the whole time. I was really excited when I saw 8:09 at mile 19.5. Banged out an 8:07 pace overall for over 20 miles. Alone. In the wind. On the one hand, I shouldn't be running that fast. But on the other hand, that is a huge confidence boost to know I CAN run that fast for that long. Shamrock, you better bring it!!!

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout? Whitecaps on Narragansett Bay

    image

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl! Oooh, I like this question. I've gotten faster, but I think the bigger thing I have learned is how to incorporate self-care into all aspects of my life. I am mentally much stronger than I ever imagined, too.

  • What was your (long) workout this weekend?  My "long" run was 6 miles.  I had about an hour so I did what I could.  DH worked the weekend away...

What was the weather like and what did you wear?  It was warm-ish (mid 40's) but very very windy.  I wore capris and a l/s wicking shirt

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be? 3 - I wanted to be out there and I felt good, but I was also glad when it was over.

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout?  Yes.  I saw about 9 deer...or the same deer 9 times!  Either way - a bit weird for a midday run)

  • What was your (long) workout this weekend? 10 miles

What was the weather like and what did you wear? Compression pants, compression socks, tank, long sleeved tech shirt.  Started with gloves and an ear band that I took over.  Bondi band.  Weather was supposedly 37 when I started, 45 when I finished.

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be?  4?  It hurt at the end but nothing that was excruciating.  I'm listening to a great audio book and that helped!

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout? Not that I can think of...I live in a rural area and just ran five miles out and back.  Nothing too exciting at 7am on a Sunday morning.

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl!  Well, just this calendar year my moods have stabilized, I've increased my speed and distance a LOT.

  • cinco- That is truly badass! You're amazing!

    psyri- EPIC NINJA EPICNESS

What was your (long) workout this weekend? dropback 10k "race". Race is a loose, redefined term because I raced by myself, chasing my PR.

What was the weather like and what did you wear? It was icy, windy (gusts of 40+mph), annnnnd I ran inside. I wasn't going to chance crappy roads and drivers three weeks out from my half. So I added the mental challenge of running a 10k on a dreadmill. It was HOT and stuffy in the gym- about 75 degrees. I wore Nike Tempo shorts (VT colors and logo) and a burnt orange racing singlet. Also, racing pigtails and a bondi band.

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be? 4. I can't believe I PR'd on a treadmill. However, it was on a treadmill.

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout? Basketball pickup games through the window of the cardio room. And there was a woman on the treadmill next to me who said I was inspiring when I finished my run. Made me tear up, which made it difficult/embarrassing to cool down and stretch.

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl! I feel like I' a lot more attuned what my body wants and needs to be healthy. I feel a lot saner and determined with all aspects of my life. And oh yeah, I can crank out the miles and do so much more than I used to be able to even THINK I could do.

Happy Weekend! Anyone else experiencing Bipolar Mother Nature? nothing bipolar, just riDICulous wind

What was your (long) workout this weekend? 15 miles yesterday

What was the weather like and what did you wear? beautiful! started at about 25 and sunny, finished at 40 and sunny. No wind at all. Oh! I wore capris, tank, l/s tech shirt, headband and gloves.

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be? 4.5. It was the first truly long slow distance run for me, and also a distance pr.

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout? I saw a huge hawk take off from the ground...so beautiful.  And I ran by New Belgium brewery, which was cool.

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl! I've lost 40 pounds and kept it off since July.  I'm stronger and consistently faster than I've ever been running distance (and I ran track and cross country in college). Most importantly, I love the way I feel and look and have total confidence in myself.

  • What was your (long) workout this weekend?

     12.5 mile run @ 7:17 pace!
My other long workout was during the week - 40 mile bike ride @ 20 mph.

What was the weather like and what did you wear?

It was beautiful - 50 degrees. I wore shorts, tank top and arm warmers.

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be?

     4.  At around mile 7, the group picked it up to a 6:50 pace and I could only hold in there for 2 miles.  Well, I probably could have held in there longer but it would have been hard.  So I dropped back.  Next week I will hang in there for an extra mile.  And then another mile the week after that, etc.  And then I can give myself a 5 ;)

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout?

It's just such an honor to run with talented athletes.  Today I discovered that one of my running partners has a marathon PR of 2:15!

  • 8 mile run, I wore ss and capris. It was around 60, I saw dolphins jumping it was a great run, if day it was a five out of five. Not any huge gains, but I had fun and enjoyed it. Then I did two yoga classes and took a nap.

  • What was your (long) workout this weekend?I had two. An 8 mile run and a 90 minute computrainer workout. What was the weather like and what did you wear? Run: cloudy 45, nice running weather. Ride: inside!! I wore capris a light long jacket and tank underneath. For my ride I wore bike shorts and a tank. If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be? Run: 4, slow and steady I felt great! Ride: 3 I'm tired from my run yesterday I also feel like I might be getting a cold. Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout?no. Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl! Never thought I would be fit enough to complete two half ironman races. I thought it was unattainable. Now anything is possible!! ?
  • Happy Weekend! Anyone else experiencing Bipolar Mother Nature?  It's been beautiful here!  But my allergies are going crazy, I had the worst sinus headache yesterday.  Had to take my migraine meds just to feel better.

What was your (long) workout this weekend?  10 mi run with DH

What was the weather like and what did you wear? Like 45 when we started.  Very windy!  I wore Old Navy compression capris, a short sleeve C9 t-shirt, lightweight C9 jacket, Feetures socks, Brooks Glycerin 8's.  Oh, and C9 sports bra and Lululemon headband.

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be?  3.  I wasn't feeling motivated and then DH was really struggling the last 2-3 miles.  My stomach was a little upset from the meds I took yesterday but luckily nothing bad happened!

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout?  Two couples on tandem bikes together.  One of the couples was wearing similar outfits.  We always pass several soccer games, this time a ball came off the feild towards us and DH booted it back to them.  I was pretty impressed, I'm not sure I could kick a ball that far!

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl!  I focus on being strong instead of losing weight.  I can run further than I ever thought I would be able to.

  • What was your (long) workout this weekend? 8 miles, then crossfit.

What was the weather like and what did you wear? 47ish and overcast.  I wore capris and a short sleeved shirt.

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be? 3.5

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout? I saw enough offleash dogs in yards without fences to really irritate me.

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle

I used to be 60 lbs heavier than I am.  Then I discovered running and eating right.  This Saturday I'll be running my 4th half marathon in 37 days.

    image
  • What was your (long) workout this weekend? 5K on Saturday

What was the weather like and what did you wear? Sunny but chilly in the high 50s Capris, tech tshirt, ON long sleeved half-zip, and my new kick@ass hot pink shoes, but I took off the half-zip before mile 1.

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be? 4.  I ran the whole 5K, longer than I've ever run before.  I beat all the walkers, but I didn't beat all the run/walkers.

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout? I ran further than I've ever run before, and I saw a lot of cows! (It was a Chick-fil-A run!).

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl!

I've gone from 257 to 205.  I've gone from running 0 minutes to running 37:50 minutes straight.  I've gone from 40 WW points plus daily to 33 WW points plus daily.

  • PsyrI- I'm totally impressed. I feel like I can either chose distance or speed,.right now I'm working on distance. You have both and that must have taken a lot of hard work.

  • 1)  i ran 8 miles yesterday.

    2) 40 and WIIIIIIIIINDY!  lots of sun, though.  i was in capri tights, a long sleeve tech shirt, and a light jacket.

    3) i'd give it about a 4.  i kept my pace under an 11 minute mile the entire time, and ran for the full 90 minutes i'd planned.  it would have gotten a 5, but i've got some serious chafing going on!

    4)  i deviated from my usual route, and ran along the perimeter of the park instead of inside the park.  the huge incline difference gave me a whole new appreciation for the little hill that's in the park.

    5) i have gone from being immobilized with back pain to spinning twice a week.  and from dreading the thought of "having to" run for two minutes to enjoying planning out a 90 minute run!

  • 1. Half Marathon in the snowiest city in the US.

    2. Weather: 33? at race time; 4.3" of snow; wind 23-37mph during race. - they call it the Lake Effect Half Marathon for a reason!

    3. Race was a 4: I same within 3 minutes of my pr for the half with those conditions. Can't wait to see how I do in a half with decent weather!

    4. Lots!  Snow, slush, freezing rain, sleet, all along a lake shore trail.

    5. I hit 365 days logging into myfitnesspal.com today.  I've lost 27 pounds since this time last year :)

  • What was your (long) workoutthis weekend?

I was also supposed to race a 10K this weekend as the last stepback week in my half training, but couldn't find one so I "raced" myself.

What was the weather like and what did you wear?

Sunny and right around 40 at the start. Wore light tights and a light long-sleeved shirt.

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be?

    4. I managed to forget both my ipod AND my garmin, so I downloaded the Map My Run app and relied on that for time, the trail has markers so I wasn't worried about distance. I wasn't sure where I would end up as I haven't run without being able to check my pace in a while, but I was right around 9:08 which was perfect.

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout?

Not really, but there were lots of cute dogs out on the trail today.

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl!

In about a year and a half I've gone from being skinny fat and unable to run a mile without stopping to strong, muscular, and a half marathoner.

  • Happy Weekend! Anyone else experiencing Bipolar Mother Nature?

What was your (long) workout this weekend?  Was supposed to be 11 miles, but I ended up doing only 9. I have the beginning of a cold and just had no energy.

What was the weather like and what did you wear? Beautiful, 45 and sunny. I wore tights, long sleeve shirt and bondi band and was a little warm.

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be? About 1 1/2, I really wasn't feeling it.

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout? Not really

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl!

Started c25k 3 1/2 years ago and am now doing my third half in 3 weeks.  Never thought I would be able to run 13 miles.

  • 1) My long workout was an 8 mile run yesterday.

    2) Weather was 34, rain/snow mix, & windy. Not very pleasant. I wore Lulu capri running pants (needed the full-length tights desperately, but they were in the wash. Planning fail) + Champion sports bra + long-sleeved dri fit tee, Lulu jacket over that + a running head band.

    3) 3. I'm getting over a cold, & still struggling with my energy level. It was also my longest run in a year (recovering from an injury) & it was hillier than I had planned.

    4) I ran through part of a small town, and some chump with an Impeach Obama signed got up in my face when I said I wasn't interested in signing his petition. He grabbed my arm & called me anti-American. LOVELY. It made me rage-y.

    5) A year ago, I couldn't run a mile. I fully trained for a half, & broke a bone in my foot last May. I'm finally back & training again - & it feels great!

  • I sat on a plane for 14 hours Stick out tongue

It was definetly a 1.  sucked big time.

    Bazinga!

    Liz's Yarn

  • What was your (long) workout this weekend? - did almost 9 miles yesterday

What was the weather like and what did you wear? - mid 40's, sunny and windy at times.  Wore tights, short sleeve wicking shirt, long sleeve wicking pullover, thin beenie hat and thinner gloves (that I took off eventually)

If you had to rate your workout from 1-5, 1 being blah and 5 being brilliant, what would it be? - eh, 3 I guess, wasn't horrible, wasn't awesome

Did you see/do anything interesting during your workout? - not really

Bonus question: Tell us, in three sentences or less, how far you've come since you started your H&F lifestyle. You go girl! - lost over 20lbs and have kept it off for 6 years so far, went from not being able to run for 30 seconds to running 2 full marathons and over 60 other races of varying distances, went from hardly ever working out to now working out consistently 5-6 days a week
