Tell me about Key West

I'm having a hard time deciding where to go this summer and DH mentioned Key West this morning. If we go, it will be in July. Tell me anything :) Good hotels? Restaurants? Things to do?  Thanks ladies!

Re: Tell me about Key West

  • We spent our Honeymoon in Key West & LOVED it!
We went parasailing & snorkling on a half day trip (I can give you the specific details if you're interested)
We ate tons of great food & just loved wondering around. Two of our favorite places to eat were, Seven Fish & Blue Heaven.
We stayed here (& would stay again in a heart beat!) http://www.casamarinaresort.com/

  • Some may consider it too touristy, but I really loved our meal at Sloppy Joe's. That and the Hemingway house were the highlights of our day there (we were on a cruise). Would love to go back for a vacay though :)

  • We stayed at Southernmost on the Beach and really liked it. (Though the beach wasn't great. The pool- and pool bar -  however, are awesome.)  It's at the very end of Duval Street, so we liked that we could walk to the bars/restaurants, but then sleep away from the chaos.  My in-laws go pretty frequently, and they usually stay at the Hyatt, which they really like.
  • My in-laws live in the Keys, so I've been a few times. It's a lot of fun and it's a great and fun place to visit! We stayed at the Sheraton Suites down there, which isn't in downtown Keys, it's in a quieter area right across from a beach. We really liked it and they had a free shuttle to downtown that ran every 30 mins I believe, and they'll give you the schedule. We did a sunset cruise around the keys, which was fun. There is also the "smallest bar" which is essentially in an alley on the strip, with two bar stools but still fun to grab a drink. There's so many different fun restaurants and bars. There's not as many beaches as you would think, but there's still so much to do and experience.
  • It'll be very humid in July.
