  • Surprise Wow! Glee is getting heavy!  I half expected that to happen after last week though. Still surprising that they went there.

  • shiiiit, I was not expecting the episode to start out with that, but good for them for covering it.

    No!!!!

I think I had read about an ending like that... plus with the driving and texting I figured. but still!

I will be super sad if they kill her off. She has not always been my favorite, but why give her such a promising story line just to kill her off?

  • HOLY CRAP! Poor Quinn, she just can't catch a break! What an awful way to end a mid season finale! I can't wait until April!

  • two things: Ausiello is throwing out the words "fantasy sequence" regarding the final scenes, so I am unsure if it is real or not, but it very well could be.

I can see them killing off as it's one less character to have to follow next season, they've found a way to keep Kurt, Finn, and Rachael around, but with Quinn at Yale it would be hard to keep her on the show.

kinda heavy handed with the teen suicide/texting while driving PSAs tonight

  • Noooooooooooo! Quinn!  What has happened to Glee, this was my feel-good show!
  • I thought Glee was supposed to be a comedy?

This episode was intense. GREAT acting though, especially Chris Colfer (Kurt) and Max Adler (Karofsky). A bit heavy handed, but I really appreciate the message.

After last week, I knew something would happen to Karofsky. I suspected either getting beat up or a suicide attempt. I'm so glad he wasn't successful.

I thought the scene with the teachers discussing Karofsky was well done too.

So we have to wait 7 weeks to find out what happens. Stupid cliffhanger!

The songs this episode weren't my favorite. I thought the songs they did at sectionals were so much better. I also don't like that they ended with a solo, I know it fit the story they were trying to tell but I like how they have done it in the past by beginning with the solo.

I also wish Kurt and/or Blaine had been featured more in the competition, since they were facing off against the Warblers.

Rapping in a show choir competition? Stupid.

  • I also thought the songs were just "okay", really wasn't impressed by the Warblers, Sebastian just does not have the voice or charisma of Blaine.

I hated that Rachael got another solo in the competition :P but at least Santana got a lot of lead time too.

The rapping was kinda weird, but not as weird as the madrigal singers who were SO EXCITED to come in last place when only 3 schools competed, lolz.

Yes! They started jumping up and down,  and I turned to my H and said "Who gets that happy over last place?"

There's a kid in the Warblers and every time I see him, I think of the group Beelzebubs from The Sing-Off. It distracts me every time they sing. I swear he's from that group. Similarly, DH can't watch scenes with Rachel's dads without making comments about dinosaurs and aliens.

I hate Will. The character annoys the hell out of me. He's just so cheesy, I want to smack him. Finn is starting to be this way too. "Life's too short, let's cheer for the competition!" :eyeroll:

I saw the Quinn thing coming as soon as they cut to the car. I was annoyed because I thought they were going to have her hit the tractor like in Grey's, and then I was sad for a moment because I thought I'd guessed wrong. I won't be sad if they kill her off. She's one of the few (or only?) to actually branch out into movies and I'd like to see her do more of it.

As a whole, I was underwhelmed.

I agree about the last place group. They were really excited. Same with Rachel's dads. They acted like they had never heard her sing before. Don't they do a nightly diner theatre?  They were SO affected by her vocals.

The Warblers are populated by the real Beelzebubs, an a-capella group from Tufts University. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beelzebubs

  • White Glee kid Rapping.

    "I Believe I can fly" R-Kelly.

That alone should have made it so they didn't win the competition. It was horrible.

The best part was Sue telling Quinn she reminded her of her when she was young. That part was funny.

  • As soon as I saw Quinn driving by herself I was like ooooooh shitz. H happened to be watching too and he was like "Well she's a goner." I don't know what will happen when it comes back. I'm sure it will put a stop to the wedding though.

  • I think they are going to kill off Quinn. They have basically tied up her storyline. She got into Yale early decision; made peace with Sue and the Glee Club. With Quinn gone, they can bring Teen Jesus into the Glee club to get the required numbers. Plus they had to stop the wedding somehow.

ditto, I was all like holy crap they are killing Quinn!

and I hated all the songs. I fast forwarded through every single one of them.

  • Eh... I was not a fan of this episode.

I knew that Quinn was going to get in a car accident from texting as soon as she driving and Rachel pulled out her cell phone. Glee has turned into a Lifetime movie full of Very Special Episodes.

As far as the attempted suicide - I wasn't too impressed by the sudden dramatic character arc of Karofsky. Am I remembering correctly, or wasn't Rachel called vile names during Season 1?  Wasn't she harassed and weren't rumors made up about her?  I suppose her pain and bullying was funny, but it's Completely Different if we're talking about the pain of being a gay male. Which reminds me - Kurt's little monologue to Quinn belittling her pain was so out of line and reminded me why I hate his character.

I get what the writers are trying to do, but you know what's even more revolutionary? Showing a completely well adjusted gay teen with loving parents who has supportive friends that don't really care about his/her sexuality. I'm sort of tired of all the gay male victimization going on with this show.

    That sucks. I am sorry.

  • I think that considering the show tends to be a little light in the drama area they probably owed it to their fans to address such a serious issue for the gay community. It's one thing to spread warm fuzzies, it's another to address something head on. I think a lot of kids probably needed to see that episode.
  • Why did the songs suck so much? And why is it cool to have a group competition where only one person sings? That goes for the Warblers, too. There are plenty of harmonized groups like the Warblers out there that manage to have more than one person's voice featured. I'm sick of them. I was pretty annoyed by that.

David's scenes actually made me cry. I totally thought he was going to die, and it made me start sobbing. I was happy he ended up alive, though I suspect some drama story line now with David/Kurt/Blaine

Re: Kurt's comments about Quinn's pain, etc. I think that was put in there to address the comments that some students make about how they just don't understand why someone would do that. The writers were just trying to address the very real reactions to suicide attempts. I felt like Quinn was out of line for judging David, and Kurt was out of line for marginalizing what Quinn has been through, but those were the points.

Re: Quinn dying at the end? It makes perfect sense she would die. It's terribly sad, but they were setting us up for it. She's finally happy again and letting go of Beth, going to Yale, back on the Cheerios. Now the Glee Club and High School will have something new to come together over. I know that at my high school, student deaths were something that brought the entire campus together, and stirred up a lot of feelings.

But David and Quinn in the same episode? A little much.

Here, here. And enough of the "It gets better" crap.  I think if Glee wants to be progressive on the Gay front, it should show more of how it can be good now. Back when Blaine sang "Teenage Dream" to Kurt in season 2, Tom and Lorenzo (bloggers) wrote the most beautiful blog about how when they were growing up, another shiitty part about being gay is that you never saw a boy singing to a boy, you never saw a manifestation of the type of love you feel on tv or in the movies. Glee started to change that...now it's all about how gay people are victims. Santanas family disowned her, Karofsky's mom told him he was sick...that sounds like a great way to make kids who are already feeling really crappy even worse.

And Shue's story about cheating...please. Way to compare a molehill to a mountain Shue.

I didn't like this episode much at all. It's like the writers felt like they could brush their hand off with the gay issue, solved that little conundrum, now on to the next scary topic, texting and driving!
