Taxes vent- add yours

Ugh, I don't know why, but filing taxes stresses me out to no ends. Thankfully, we did them today and we don't owe, but gah! I feel like I can't relax now. And, it kinda sucks having to be a grown up because all of our refund is going to retirement. Le sigh.

*off to find a glass of wine*

Anyone else have a tax vent?

Re: Taxes vent- add yours

  • We filed ours and received our refund. Then I received a corrected W2 for the year and had to amend our return. Now that we have already spent all of our refund paying off bills we have to send back half of what they sent us.

  • I feel like the system maximizes your likelihood of making a mistake and is designed to catch you doing so. I just feel so nervous that we'll make a little mistake that someone will catch the years from now and we'll have to pay a bunch to fix an honest mistake, or won't be able to find a missing document, etc.

  • We filed ours what seems like forever ago and haven't gotten our refund yet. It's supposed to be there on Monday but it seems like this is the slowest it has ever come.

  • We thought we would get a lot of money back because of bkb, but we aren't. Really hoping we don't end up paying in next year.

We thought the same thing and then it was a big surprise when it wasn't what we thought.

  • We luckily got a very small refund, but it was pretty sad looking at how much more we paid this year because we were married. It just makes me really annoyed.
  • I hate tax season.

Thankfully we don't owe this year, the past two years with relocations, buying and selling homes had been brutal.

We should be getting a small refund, but it will most likely be tied up in legal for a while due to baby momma drama.

  • My only vent is that this is the first year I've had to owe. Technically it's H's fault, lol! But it's only $100 so that's not too bad.

    ugh that's so crappy Sad

  • We will probably owe around 2-3K. It kind of sucks but it's life. I just need to finish the taxes. ;)

First of all, I thought this thread read Texas rant. I was going to add my rant about Texas.

    LOL let's hear it :)

I have no rant because I haven't done it yet.  I'll probably do it after my big presentation is over, I just can't think about anything else right now.

  • We have to wait for D's Canadian taxes to be filed and finished before we can even start here.

My anal-retentive organizational brain is tweaking out at cutting it so close (it's not really /that/ close since it's still late Feb/early March but before I got married my taxes were usually done by late January).

This is the second year we're hiring someone to do our taxes, between D's foreign income, the new house, and our rental, I can't even begin to wrap my head around all our deductions and gains and whatever.
