The movers took our belongings yesterday, leaving behind only the items we are putting into long-term storage or are taking on the plane with us, save a few items my ILs brought with them to use while we "camp". LO is loving all the room to run and play!
There are four adults, one toddler and one dog. We have three camping chairs, one toddler chair and the dog's airline kennel (which is also serving as an end table). Can you guess who prefers the camping chairs? If you guessed the dog and the toddler, you win! And sadly, because the dog and toddler are so spoiled, the adults are okay with sitting on the floor. (Really, we're not as pathetic/pitiful as it might appear.)
We are in our empty townhouse until the 28th. Then we do have reservations for a suite in a hotel nearby. It will be nice to get to the hotel.
Overall, the move is going well enough. The packers were speedy and efficient, as were the movers. But, the truth will be fully evident when we go to unpack. The only bad thing, so far, is that some jacka$$ took down the reserved parking signs on our street. We paid $60/day to the city for those reserved spots, but the signs have to be up to warn drivers. I called today, after DH saw that they were gone (they were there earlier in the morning). Nobody can help us until Monday morning, when one of us (me) will have tom go down to City Hall. Gee, it's not like we don't have enough going on already. (And, as to who took the signs down, my money is on either the owner of the Jeep that was towed on Thursday or the owners/neighbors of the unleashed dogs who attacked our dog last month--they are pissed because we called Animal Control.)
Two and a half more weeks until the real fun begins! Yikes!

Re: Empty house
That really sucks about the parking signs! Just curious - could you cancel the reserved parking spots while you're gone so you don't have to pay for them and then get them back when you return? Then maybe you wouldn't have to go to City Hall to get new ones, at least.
And I can't believe you're managing 2.5 weeks with no furniture! It sounds like the toddler is treating it as an adventure, though, which is great :-)
Glad the packing/moving part went smoothly! Good luck with the signs.
I remember how much fun my little guy had when we were hoteling it. Hope Grant has as much fun. AND we're up for a play date whenever you get over the jet lag, or just get tired of the hotel. Looking forward to seeing you guys.
I owe you a message, I'll try to write tonight. We are going out to dinner with one of DH's former bosses, but it shouldn't be too late of a night.
I was on the "other" website looking for rentals and found one on your side of the river that was built in 1603!!!!!! Part of me thinks that it would be fabulous to live in a four hundred years old house, but the practical side of me isn't so certain. It's a moot point thought, as we aren't willing to pay the realtor fees. But still, 1603!!!!! I'm so curious to see where we end up. . .
